Heart Punches (SPM question)

Anyone here know the differences, if any, between a heart punch using a closed fist vs. a phoenix eye (Chow Gar variety)? And while we're at it, how 'bout a palm strike as well. Thanks

Is this about attacking the heart through the ribs or a dim-mak jobby?

D is right thats the one of the points of the phoenix eye designed to go between the ribs allowing penetrating strikes (more pressure to smaller area), thats why in SPM there is a great emphasis on the dip gwut gung (rib bone power) the ability to close the ribs stopping a phoenix eye from getting through.
