Are there still such
or do they not go on much?
Are they in the USA
or only held in China today?

kuosho usually just means kung fu.....and there are lots of kung fu tourneys.

Sanshou used to mean
something other than it does today
kuosho for a time
were the aegis of some tourneys I've heard say

I fought in an international Kuoshu tournament in San Francisco at the end of last year, and it was part of a triple crown win..so I know there are at least 3 that happened last year. Elbows allowed, knees allowed, San Shou style throw rules, open finger gloves, no pads, and cage headgear. If that is what you are looking for, its out there....Want more info? Just reply back.

Ha! You all thought I'd failed to rhyme
but rhyming right now I will do all the time
(my wife tells me "Stop!"
but do I listen?
Just think the good lovin'
I have been missin')

Now Golden Arm, I would sure like some more info
so as to satisfy this kung fu nymph0.

No way dude. You had a good run KC. It is time to move on.

KC Elbows

Links and hijinks rhyme, so why all the haggling?
I rhymed once off of another members babbling
so internally, that post didn't rhyme on it own
Did anyone b1tch? Did anyone groan?

No, this hell ain't quite over
its only day eleven
day fourteen will make
today seem like heaven
So prepare yourselves
for I'll soon have the gall
to unleash day fourteen:
The Worst Rhyme of Them All!

Badger's the winner
he's read the fine print
He knows what he won
he's chosen this stint
So if you think
this should come to a close
Then Badger must approve
or its just a no-go
(consider the price
it might be untoward
He might make you type these few days
all backwards.)

ewallace

when is this freaking thing supposed to end anyway?

KC Elbows
03-12-2002, 10:30 AM
This Friday the end does unwind
unless Badger decides to be kind.

ewallace

Do the right thing Badger.

Badger
03-12-2002, 10:35 AM
What about rhyming backwards???

Badger

ewallace
03-12-2002, 10:37 AM
That would suck. Then I would have to concentrate twice as hard and probably be twice as annoyed.

How about this. I will type my posts backwards the rest of the day. Then starting tomorrow this rhyming insanity will stop. Deal?

Badger
03-12-2002, 10:47 AM
What about you type backwards through tomorrow & KC stops rhyming on thursday?

So back to the original topic
lest we seem to be too myopic
do these tournaments occur in the midwest or tropics?
Or should I just shut up and drop it?

ewallace

refer to last statement above.

Golden Arms
03-12-2002, 11:26 AM
OK you rhyming ******* ;) here is some info...the top two are the ones i fought in, so I can vouch once again that at least THEY were full contact, on a raised platform, no pads, cage headgear, fingerless light gloves, with 5 seconds to execute a takedown/throw once you clinched up. If you want any other info let me know!

Golden Arms,

Glad you posted that. Are any styles allowed in the Lei Tai fights that Kuosho Fed puts on. I wanted to compete last year but was under the impression that you had to train in lei tai fighting or be apart of that kind of school to actually compete. Can you tell me more.

Amitoufu,

AOF

P.S.- Did you see the guy(master) of one of the International team with the red Afro and the full blown costume. Does that have something to do with the system. He looked well, I dont know how to explain it.

KC Elbows

Thank you, GA, how did your fights go?
And do you have any rules info?

Golden Arms
03-12-2002, 11:46 AM
Ok, the only rule for fighting is that you will get disqualified if you kick the guy in the nuts and he gets back up within 10 seconds...Other than that it was pretty much anything goes..which made some fights total brawls..others really controlled..it was good IMHO. Oh the master you are refererring to, was he the french canadian guy with the black northern style costume with the red parts on one shoulder? All I know about that guy is, regardless of what he looks like, he had some of the best fighters there, so you make the call on what you think of him..he has my respect. Oh and to fight you just have to be familiar with the rules..there were taichi fighters, copoeria, some dudes from brazil, bak mei, hung ga, etc. Knock the person off the platform 3 times without coming off and you win, KO them and you win, oh, and the best part....the platform itself is NOT padded, so when you go down, you really feel it and so does the other guy ;)

Oh, sorry KC didnt see your post...my fights went good..I won all of them..but the guys I fought were tough, it was no cakewalk, which would have made it fun win OR lose. :)

Kuoshu typically refers to the Kuoshu Federation. The US part of that is the USCKF (US Chinese Kuoshu Federation) headed by Chienliang Huang

The Kuoshu group is backed by the Taiwanese government (ROC). They have forms and fighting competition. The rules are a bit more open than Sanshou.

You may look for USCKF or USACKF or something like that for their web site. They should have rules posted there. Huang usually has a big event in the summer.

Yep see above...I think it was put on by USCKF if I recall correctly. From what I have heard they have one in June or around there, and then one usually in August, and one in November, I will post more info as I get it. Hope to see you there if you can make it :)

Kuo shu actually means national art. Lots of Taiwanese called it that after the government split and Chang kai shek left to Taiwan away from the communists.

Yes they still have it here in the U.S. I have a flyer from Huang Chien Liang.
