Does anybody here have some info about Master Yuen Man Kai of Chut Sing Bak Tong Long?
I would like to know more about his history, lineage, etc.
Thanks in advance for the help.

A student of WHF he set up the Northern Mantis MA College in 1965 in HK.

Of WHF students he has published the best books I've seen.

Of worthy note is the 7* Lan Jie book which follows WHF manuscript precisely.

His books are still in print and worth buying if you study PM, especially7*.

Although if you haven't learned applications you'll be disapointed with these books as there is no app explanation.

Siu Hoimoon,
Your name is the name of a 2 person exercise by Taiji PM of HK.
Also the name of a basic form in Wah Lum.
Are you of one of these styles?

Where can really good books on mantis (like the one you just mentioned) be purchased from? I have a couple, but as far as getting any really outstanding ones, amazon.com and most other decent bookstores just don't have much mantis selection.

Do you basically have to travel to Asia to get them?

:D Thanks! (trying to improve my martial arts library a bit!)

Qing. Maybe you could post a list of mantis books since you seem to have quite a bit of knowledge about what books are out there. Xie xie.

On Mantis108 is a link to a page that has the best PM books on the planet.
These are museum pieces and we can't actually read them, but bit by bit we should start making English translations available.

Some of this if not most has been reprinted in Chinese, but not English. It is hard for me to decide what to translate as there is so much available.

Some suggestions may help.

Yushan,
Chen Hsiaowang, the pope of Chen family taiji just came to Tainan to give a lecture, speech, performance and seminar.
We went and Shr Laoshr told them to let Pong lai on stage and do a form.
So he did lipi.

The best video is the one I'm making. Hopefully it will be done before you leave. It is a professional project.
It contains the form Babu Lien Huan:

-solo form
-partner version
-applications
-8 two man drills from the form
-4 two man kicking drills...
A. 3 connected kicks
B. low pull round kick
C. sprouting kick with plucking hand
D. sprouting kick with deng ta takedown and rolling hand escape

-4 two man hand drills of three punches each:
A. Outer hanging hand
B.Inner adding punch
C.lift-hug-add a punch
D.rolling punch
And how to combine these different drills into "flow" or "tsai" in our school.

-4 two man "manacle strikes" Which is the first stage of arm pounding and takedowns.

-3 takedowns, which includes the above mentioned hand techniques and how they are used for takedowns.

-appendix
A.solo form with technique names in English and Chinese on each picture in freeze frame style
B. the same for the partner form.

I think I have seen the sneak preview of the video. Knowing Tainan Mantis, my advice is GET IT! This will be a video that you won't want to miss. :D

Thanks for the update, Tainan. If you don't mind, I would like to put this update on my forum as well.

Well, if you are talking about the Yuen Man Kai I know about ( who just happens to be another Preying Mantis Master ) then I just had dinner with him a few weeks ago. Then again, we might be refering to different people of course.

Can you give me some specific infomaiton you want to know about ? I could give him a call.

Acutally, if you are serious about this, E-mail me.

It seems that we're talking about the same person, Chinwoo-er.

But I already found some info about him. Thanks anyway! :)

Hey Tainan you're making a video? How much for one?

I'll sell it for the industry video price. Mantis108 said 40$ is good.

I haven't figured out how I will do it though. Some people have mentioned that I need a web page and other business related things.
