I'm considering classes in Wing Chun or Bai Mei. What should fees be?
School I'm considering is 96.00/mth for 2 classes per week (12.00/hr) with full access to school and equipment anytime.
Also have a 100.00 registration fee (?).
Is this high?
School/Sifus seem legitimate. Not a "McDojo" type of deal - just seems high cost.

i pay 180 a month, but thats for unlimited training time. I go to the kwoon about 15 hours a week

This is really a tough question to answer. How do these fees compare to other martial arts schools in your area? If they are significantlly more, then you need to figure out if it's worth the additional cost. It really depends on the quality of the instruction, and what it's worth to you.

All I can say is that I would pay that much for my Sifu's time, regardless of what other schools were charging.

It's NOT about the Benjamin's. ;)

But that's one persons opinion. Your results may vary.

That's too much money for any amount of time. And there is absolutely no good reason whatsoever for a registration fee in any amount. Apparently for some schools. it is about the benjamins

I have to pay $75.00 (US)/month per person. I also get a 10% discount because my wife also takes classes there. These prices are not set by my Sifu but by the Karate Dojo where our classes are held. We workout twice a week for an hour. I think this cost is pretty standard in my area (Phoenix, AZ).

Ya, the "happy ending" option adds another 50$ per month to the package. A bit pricey, but my training time gets supersized, plus I get an extra coke and fries with each visit.

I've been through enough WC and other MA schools to know what I'm paying for. Besides, didn't some one here say you can never pay enough for a good sifu?

Good instruction truly has no price on it, but that doesn't make it ok to charge outrageous fees.

I'd say the average cost for classses would be around 70$. ONe teacher charges :
1/ week = $50
2/week = $70
3/week = $90

THen there's a few guys in san diego. Steve Martin charges around 60$ a month for 2 classes a week. And for his tai chi class he gives free form correction to all his students in the day time.

Others around the area charge around 70-90.

I'd say less than 90$.

BUT of course I'd imagine you would have a hard enough time finding a good teacher to worry about the price.
