Thank you for running a good forum here. I mean, sometimes threads on Buddha turn into threads on Hitler, and there's always the occassional Cheung/Bozteppe garbage, but still, its generally a good place to hang.

I've just gotten off of asiapacific's forum and TMAN, busy debunking my former compatriots at chung moo quan(oom yung doe). I've never seen so much spamming, so many people trolling, and left and right people just being jerks.

Is it bad that KFO is my sane happy place?:D

And we are more than happy to provide a space for some earnest Kung Fu-rum. Just keep in coming and serve it up hot! And tell you friends and classmates to shop at MartialArtsMart.com!
OK, enough sweetness, back to flaming each other ;)

I want some sort of Martial art supply store on it, and it would be cool if we weren't competitors, Right?

Oh, while I remember it, Kung Lek, would a nice fiver be enough to get you to delete that li lian jie thread? Its a crisp, fresh bill, good at all the martial arts suppliers. If you like, it could be traded in for canadian currency.

Just think about it.;)

I'm proud to have made that link. :)

As for the Li Lian Jie thread, I'll throw in a couple of quid and a UFC tape! :)

KC Elbows
03-29-2002, 12:22 PM
Kung Lek,
OK, its up to five dollars American(or Canadian equivalent, if you prefer), two quid, and a UFC tape.

Just to make things interesting, I will add to that a godzilla video and a little change/soap dish(not sure which it is, probably works for both).

I'll add some more too then :)

*A graffiti'd Canadian 5 dollar bill with the name and number of a girl from B.C. on it. If you live near B.C tell her Lewis sent you.
*A 1/2 empty bottle of Southern Comfort with an American Cent pickling at the bottom.
* The original box-set DVD of the 1922 film "Nosferatu", about a Dracula-esque monster [played by Max Schreck] that stalks a small Bavarian village.

Really, Kung Lek, the ones who want that thread must not want it all that badly. I mean, what have they offered? Squat, that's what.

Secretly, they want the thread to go away. They're just ashamed to admit it.:p

here's a reason not to delete the Li Lian Jie thread...

i can stop Tae Li coming over and kicking your @ss! :D Li Lian Jie 2 will just appear anyway ;) Anywayz, we're talking about Bagua and Xing Yi now anyway. quite interesting imo (as soon as we get someone who knows bagua to respond! ;))

Canadian $5 isn't worth much anyway is it? :D

No, but she was a good-looking blonde. And the Southern-Comfort isn't that badly affected by the coin. Hell, I'll even throw in a home-made leaflet stand in the shape of a Fender Strat headstock.

You know, for when Kung Lek needs to display guitar leaflets with class, style and that "homemade panache" that says "Year 9 graphics project" like nothing else. :D

Delicate: you drive a hard negotiation there bud! :D Come to the chatroom if you can, be good to argue with you there (no censors either).

Well, saying as Tae Li isn't here to defend her thread personally, i'm trying to thold the fort...

Kung Lek: we can keep all our slightly OT movie ramblings in that thread instead of covering ALL of the main forum :)

another thing: all of the usless clutter everyone against us has offered will not help you develop non-attatchment (Buddhism) :)

IF Kung Lek accepted, I'm sure it would be to help us develop our non-attachment, as he's helpful that way.

Welcome to the buddhist maffia. Let me help you with your non-attachment.:D

Favorite sayings of the buddhist maffia:

-Let me help you with your non-attachment

-Am I gonna have to hurt you? Do you really want me to have that kind of karma?

-Hey, look! I got a set of brass knuckles with the four noble truths on 'em!

-I don't really think your ready for an end to the suffering of rebirth.

-No, your honor. We DID NOT beat him with a phone book. The phone book was just an illusion.

C'mon, Kung Lek. What, is our money/soap dish/coin tray/godzilla tape/nasferatu boxed set no good to you?

(BTW, DS, you really upped the ante with the nasferatu boxed set. I'm starting to feel a little cheap here.)

I can also throw in a photo of my barber with LedZep vocalist Robert Plant. If you want Kung Lek, I can stick your head on his body, so it looks like you and Mr.Plant are best mates.

Surely that is worth it. Just give me the nod and I'll steal the photo.

Now seriously guys, since we got mods attention

Id like to see the political/racismical stuff removed.
I know some forum members find it very disturbing, i mean its not the place for such thing here.

Like www.goldenshower.gs for example, is much less disturbing.

Kung Lek has completely avoided this thread.

I suppose he thinks he's untouchable.

God, that was cheesy. I feel somewhat ashamed.

Wait. Would the buddha have let emotion have overcome him in the midst of a bribe situation? Would buddha have let destructive thoughts interfere with a lucrative protection scam?

Clearly, no.

Howz the Buddhist Mafia mission to destroy all the CMD practitioners going?

KC Elbows

Well, I MIGHT have a taker on a challenge. He claims he's not in CMQ, but speaks in all the CMQ catchphrases(cultspeak). We'll see if he actually shows up.

Mostly, I don't care to destroy all the practitioners, just debunk the stuff they put out and try to force them to be honest about their martial arts.

dezhen2001
03-29-2002, 04:44 PM
i think being honest about your background is important also. After seing those sites it makes me realise how lucky i am to have a good Sifu :) Thankfully our background is very clear.
This whole McKwoon thing is quite scary as we don't have it here in the UK (hope it don't spread neither!).

I liked how you said:Mostly, I don't care to destroy all the practitioners , so you'll leave a few then eh? ;)

Well, using the tenets of the buddhist maffia, I could not destroy them all. They'd just come back as various forms of mudskipper.

Have I mentioned that mainstream buddhists aren't proud of the buddhist mafia?

dezhen2001

I would have guessed that KC!
Is it kinda like the church and the Knights Templar? (slightly more OT: check out a movice called 'Sanctuary' with Mark Dacascos in it. It has to do with the church 'knights' kinda).

does a mudskipper know better MA's though?

I count a McKwoon / McDojo as a school that:

1) Teaches improper methods/theory or a watered down version of a style.

2) A school so commercialised that you have to shell out £60 for pads from them, even though you can get the same elsewhere for £40, or one that charges obscene amounts for gradings even though you do them in your class time.

3) One that mixes styles into an agglomeration [sp?] of sh!te. For example: "U.S. Navy Seal Wing Chun, as taught by Grandmaster Seagal"

4) A school where you have to worship Sifu, or one that makes ridiculous claims.

[Any one will classify, but the more the merrier!]

In the UK, I've seen 1, 2 and 3, never 4. So we're almost on our way to a full house!

Remember........ it's only a matter of time........ :)

good post DS :)

I know what you mean about 1, 2 and 3. But what i was trying to say is that it's nowhere near the scale of something like Temple Kung Fu, CMD etc. (at least not yet!).

!: But wouldn't this cover all modern common MA's like Karate, TKD, Ju Jistsu etc. as well? All those have been watered down or 'modified' over the years to fit the competitive format.

2: i can see where your coming from. I guess things like huge membership fees etc. are also pretty bad! We pay a membership, but get discounts on seminars and a bi-monthly magazine (Qi Magazine - ever seen it?) as well as a training shirt all as part of that. So it works out pretty well imo.

3: I've seen a lot of that, especially with Wing Chun! 'modified' wing chun, 'street' Wing Chun blah blah... To me it either is or it isn't :)

4: haven't seen yet, but would like to see what happens when someone does make ridiculous claims :D

Interesting, let's wait and see what happens in the next 5 years!

Yep, pretty much. From my experience, most Karate is Bullcrap, most TKD is ineffective and Ju-jitsu badly taught. There are still some good schools out there, but most are belt-factories that teach people what they would like to learn, for example; you progress to the next belt rapidly, giving a false sense of achievement, and bad technique is just passed over. At the end of the day, most people just want to become a black belt.

Me personally, I never want to make black-belt - unless I am 100% positive that I have earned it. Anything else and you're cheating yourself.

Qi Magazine - ever seen it?

'Fraid not. I'm not really into internal stuff. I'd like to be, but I really know nothing about it besides the basics.

'street' Wing Chun

The one I really like is when Martial Arts books have a "self-defence" section at the back. What, is the martial art supposed to teach you Origami, with self-defence as a side-effect?!!

As of now, we don't have anything like OYD, butbelieve me, it's on it's way....... :(

BTW: Nice thread!!

dezhen2001

It's interesting that when i studied Karate, i never made it to Shodan (1st black). I trained for 13 years, and learned even things that were for the 2nd Dan syllabus, but i never graded above brown belt.

I used to help my Sensei teach the class, and even people technically higher than me would defer to me when it came to forms or sparring. I used to spend more time working on application of Kata than point sparring though... not many schools do that anymore. Not even my old one (as my Sensei retired to raise his kids!).

I meant more that people take a base art such as wing chun or Hung Gar etc. and add things that don't fit in to the principles. But they still market it as wing chun or whatever...hence the 'street' wing chun and all that jazz.

Can't wait to see what happens in the next few years :D

Sounds like a better Karate class than my old one. Man I found that shallow - all we did was line-punching day after day. I quit at about 11 after 6 months.

Maybe I just had a bad school.

There is an afilliation program where you can post banners for MartialArtsMart.com on your site and get a percentage of sales. It can be fairly profitable for such little effort if your site has a fair amount of traffic. Check out http://store.yahoo.com/martialartsmart/affiliates.html
