Has anyone bought any equipment from an online martial arts store? I want to buy a steel blade fighting fan, and the prices are utterly ridiculous in Oz! I think it's cheaper to get it over the net, but how safe is it? Don't want to send off c/c details and never get the fan! What sites are good to buy from? Thanks in advance.

I'd stick with a company that others can recommed or has been around for a while.

Being a student of Wing Lam Kung Fu, I of course would recommend going to www.wle.com (http://www.wle.com) and search for fan. You'll see they have them and they ship all over the world. (Believe it or not, they actually have people order from China and Hong Kong.)

Also, I'd be remiss not to mention the forum sponser. Just click the weapon ad above and then navigate to the more general weapons area.

I have had good luck buying a few items from a small store that just happens to have an online presence and a good owner.

The place is called rising sun, but it is bricks and mortar, and really does mail order as an aside. Having said that, they get great waxwood items, and I have been happy with everything they have sent (poles, sabers, BF knives, 3-section staff).

Check them out at www2.bitstream.net/~risingsn/

Tell Lynn (the owner) that Dave from Winnipeg sent you!

I said to her, "For you who are so old but forever young I have many questions."

She said to me, "And I have but one answer - you must be a silhouette of the dragon against the moon."

I called up a store in the city, and the guy offered me a fan for $55AU, down from $79AU, but the only problem is it has a fecking ninja on it! nooooooooo!!!! just my bad luck! i found one place that sells things for really cheap though: http://wwmas.com/
but i'm really skeptical about buying things online, anyone had any experience with this store?

Buy it from www.MartialArtsMart.com (http://www.MartialArtsMart.com)! Click the topmost banner like hasayfu says (but not when it says Tiger Claw, refresh until you get a MartialArtsMart.com banner.) We hve iron fans (steel really) in red or black with a dragon or phoenix (or ninja!) for $40.00 USD+S&H.

This forum is entirely supported by Internet commerce. Last month, it cost $500.00 to maintain and we logged only about a dozen sales (not good.) So if you want this forum to persist, do support us with your good business.

OK, end of plug. I have to do that every once in a while 'cuz it's my job.

I'd probably order a lot of stuff, but the problem is that when you order stuff outside European Union, you have to pay a lot duties and sales taxes. And what if they pack wrong items?

This is a problem with e-commerce. We are working on developing a European outlet, but I'm not sure if it will tie into our site yet or be indepedant. Internationals can be really tricky.
