Apparently free radicals are the by-product of our use of oxygen and are responsilble for a lot of damage in the body at a cellular level. Naturally occurring anti-oxidants are supposedly very good at destroying free radicals.

So, my question is this: What are good anti-oxidants?

I've heard that green tea is a good anti-oxidant. Any of you guys know of any others?

Free radicals have been compared to an apple turning brown when it hits the air, or how metal rusts.

In addition to free radicals being produced with our metabolism, they are also in the air in the form of different types of air toxins/pollution. Essentially they are molecules that attack the body's systems (nervous and others). They can be linked to chronic fatigue, cancer, and a slew of other bad news taking place inside of our body. More causes of free radicals (oxidant stress) is smoking, high blood pressure, hypertension and others.

Green tea is a good anti-oxidant. Also, a balanced diet of fruits, vegetables and grains. There are herbs that contain many anti-oxidants but probably wouldn't be consumed in large amounts on a regular basis (spearmint is one of them).

Vitamins A, E and D all help in fighting free radicals. You can also buy anti-oxidant pills at your local GNC or health food store, but they get pricey and I don't trust alot of those supplements.
And last, you can take Ginko biloba. On top of making you feel more energized and alert, they are a good fighter of free radicals.

Hope this has helped. Good luck in your quest.

To add onto that, all of us have free radicals inside of us.

And all of us get a healthy dosage of anti-oxidants in the form of vitamins in our food and others that keep free radicals balanced and under-raps. But that does not mean they aren't there...

If you wish to build muscles, you need to supplement your protein intake. The same is true for getting rid of free radicals: you need to supplement your anti-oxidant intake.

Even though you may get enough anti-oxidants a day, you may need to go out of your way to supplement it with something like Vitamin E pills (which also help stretch marks :)

Alpha Lipoic Acid is a strong anti-oxident as well. But vit E is good.
