Having trouble understanding the Footwork in Chuka Shaolin

In the first Chuka Shaolin Phoenix Eye Fist book how does the footwork work i dont understand it ?

The foot work is base on box, triangle and linear patterns. The only thing that does not make sense is the beginning and ending direction of the Bow which should begin and end the first direction one faces when they start the set.
