you can only get the books direct from daniel weng, or on ebay, or if you live near a decently sized chinatown, maybe the local ma store.

rd, i assume you have the videos done by tc media?

I heard the book "Kungfu Elements" was good. Does anybody know what kind of stuff is in it? Does the book just cover techniques and exercises? Maybe Gene could tell me some of what is in this book since he gave a testomonial in the advertisement.

Kungfu elements has basic stretches, modern wushu drills, wubu quan(a beginner mod. wushu form), liuhe quan, sahn shou techniques, and other goodies including a mini kungfu encyclopedia in the back(actually that part's a pretty large chunck of the book)! Tons of historical info and cool pics about other styles :)

When and where was this one developed?

I was taught it as being a Traditional Shaolin beginner's set. My version is a bit different than the text book versions though, mostly differing arm positions (Draw the bow instead of punch and chamber etc)

Not a clue. I just know that almost every modern wushu school has this form. I posted your question over on Raffi's site, so we'll see if someone there knows. If not, I'll ask my teacher tommorrow. I remember my old wushu coach had a small book with all these short wushu combination forms in it and wubuquan was #6. I think changquan #6 might be another name for it. Under my old coach we called it combination #6 and had another form called wubuquan, which was quite a bit different.

nevermind, Raffi's board's being a pain in the ass, lol. Guess I'll ask sifu :D

We already discussed kung fu elements in a previous thread, didn't we? It's a great book on many levels and probably my strongest recommendation right now. I think brad covered it pretty well, and if you want to know more, just dig up that old thread. It shouldn't be too far back.

As for wubu, there's a good question. I've been toying with doing a cross provincial comparison of wubu. It seems like a basic wushu building block, but every style has sort of made it their own with little additions on the front and back. The Shaolin version adds some monk-like postures, the O-mei version adds some characteristics akin to their own style. I've learned both versions, and find their similarities and differences very interesting. The wubu in KFE is just the basic core - what you might see in Beijing. Anyway, wubu is one of my personal back burner projects...
