i still get them toward the end of class half the time. what causes that?

i currently wear those crappy shoe/slipper things you can get at walmart and whatnot that resemble kung fu slippers. i have tried wearing tennis shoes before, but any support on the arch seems to make the problem 10 times worse.

Try kicking your lady in the gut where it's soft rather than the hard bony ridges of the face and head.

Alternatively, sound like a podiatrist is what you need. That's a foot doctor. Or a good osteo. See one of those guys and have them check that your arch and alignment are all good. You'll probably find it's fallen arches or something and usually some light physio and a support in your shoe is all you need.

Or perhaps your feet are just ****ed! ;)

...always usually denotes Blood stagnation espcially if this has been going on for some time. Blood stagnation stems from Qi stagnation which is the equivalent of having an accident or physical injury. This stagnates the qi in the channel, and if not unblocked will eventually, given time, start to stagnate the blood. One of the classic indications of blodd stagnation in chinese medicine are stabbing pains in an area which once was the site of an external injury, or an area of press and tissue stress.

I would wear shoes with some arch support - they might seem more painful at first but that might be because they touch up against a problem created by the cheap shoes. If they don't work then see a podiatrist or similar.

GDA, I get that when I walk a lot. I don't know what causes it but I HATE it. Wow, I haven't had them since like last year tho when I was walking to this geology review. Thanks for brining back painful memories.

yes, sounds like falling arches. i'd check out podiatry related websites or health/medical sites on the web. meanwhile, you can increase the circulation radically by pointing your toes up towards your head.

It's funny though because I have really high arches.

Are your shoes too tight?

Sounds stupid but if like me, you have wide feet, you'll need wide trainers.

I had the same problem - and overdeveloped tarsal in my case - and the same pains. A pair of Nike Cortez [widest I could find] solved it GDA, but my next-door neighbour/chiropodist is on standby to make me some bridge supports in case it's more serious.

Don't by shoes with preset supports. Unless they're made for you they'll do more harm than good.

Feet bones are soft. Get it checked NOW before permanent damage is done.

A £50 pair of trainers is cheaper than a specialist chiropracter [which you'll need] at about £70 an hour. If the Nike's don't work though, you'll be forking out to the fat guy from Scholl I'm afraid :(

Sounds like inflammation to me. Anti- inflammatory like Ibuprofen can't hurt provided you are not asthmatic.

Unless it is in the transverse arch, in which case you should seek medical advice.

no they arent really flat that i can tell. not really high either. but they are wide. short and wide so it is hard to find shoes that fit right. funny thing is that my feet never hurt when i train in my wing tips. i've worn them a couple times to class when i forgot my other shoes, but people don't generally like sparring me. i try to be careful, but every now and then ya slip and someone else's shin pays for it.

dragontounge ... that'd be great but i quit bud along with drinking. not intentionally, but i have absolutely no desire to smoke if im not drunk. today makes exactly two weeks since my last beer.

i dunno . .. i guess it couldnt hurt to try a decent pair of shoes and see how that goes. i should be able to afford them some time next year so ill let you guys know how it goes.

i wonder if my shoes are a little to tight in width though. cause my arches never really hurt like that if i train bare foot or in wing tips.
