I heard some people do this because it increases the flow of chi. Any truth to it?
Just wondering, and visiting the internal forum again :)

I apply Jow before doing Tai Chi and Qigong. Also use it when meditating (would you believe there is a meditation Jow?), 3 star, 5 star, roller-bar and anything else I can. T'ieh Da Jiu is very good for many things. Peace.

The herbs in the jow bring the chi to its highest point where its applied!

Isn't Jow just an ointment to put on bones to make it heal faster? Like how Tiger balm is for muscles?
There are many different types of Dit Da including Jow.
Each recipe has a specific purpose. Although most of them bring ch'i to the region, they tend to have other specific benefits. I have a few Dit Da Jows that I only use with specific meditations.
Ask your Sifu what Dit Da is part of your art.
