Does anyone know of some exercises that make you jump higher, and be able to do the splits (not both in one exercise). Any help would be appreciated...

squat with your feet about shoulder width apart. Jump into the air as high as you can, pulling your knees into your chest. don't just crash back into the ground, try to land lightly.

This is a plyometric exercise, which is great for building explosiveness. Be careful though, as this can put strain on the knees. Don't do this exercise every day - 2 or three times a week should suffice.

also, do a search on hindu squats. I don't really feel like typing the steps to doing the exercise.

Jump Squats.

Cleans.

Band Jump squats.


Oh yeah--some of these require special equipment....

Box jumps are good too.

Hi TCA,

I'd be careful about what kind of stretching you do at 14, I've heard certain types of stretches can be potentially damaging to guys your age.
I'd get a MA book aimed at your age range, someone here might be able to recommend one.
