Has anyone done this before?

Just curious as to what it's supposed to do .... train you to absorb incoming energy?

It's just a recent power training tool. It's kinda like pole shaking. It's used to strengthen the dantien. You throw it up using the dantien. And I guess you catch it the same way. The main usage is to move/throw the ball with the dantien.

Thanks wujidude!

I will ask Carl this weekend.

I tried tossing it around on my own yesterday and it seems to train the body to absorb incoming energy (or redirect it?). Catching it in a static position hurts, so you need to engage you entire body like a spring ... legs, dan tien etc.

I'm probably way off the mark, but I thought it was fun and interesting ... almost self correcting. I'm probably not using minimal movement or engaging the dan tien though.

I used a bowling ball and proceeded to put several small craters in my lawn :)

Here's a nice little section of a tai chi ball set.
