View Full Version : Kung Fu guys at Dog Brothers...

The Dog Brothers had their semi-annual stick fighting matches last Sunday. There was a guy who said he trained with Tim Cartmell (I believe his name was Maynard). His sticks were good, as was his ground work (if I remember correctly I think he finished his opponent with an arm bar from the mount). I was really impressed with his overall skills...
I also saw a fighter with a San Soo Kung Fu shirt on- not sure how he did or where he was from. I just wanted to give these guys props for getting out there and mixing it up with the best of them.

I believe that Tim Cartmell teaches Chinese fast wrestling, and has a couple of books on the subject.

On a sidenote, it's kind of scary when everyone meets kung fu exponents and are surprised when they have skills...is it that seldom?

Hey Knifefighter how respected are The Dog Brothers in the MMA scene?.
This in no way is a troll, i read one of the seniors from the deceased teacher of the style i do is a member!. So i'm just curious about thier Org!??.

It's my perception that they are rather highly regarded in the MMA scene. They seem to share the same values: practicality and realistic training.

man that ****es me off, i tried to go to that with the other guys from the gym, but we ended up going up and down that El Segundo street trying to find the rAw gym (we forgot to take the adress with us) and it was nowhere to be found in the yellow pages and noone knew where it was when we asked at the gas stations there :((

Ended up going to the NG Beach BBQ which was cool.

Was the show cool?
