I would like to know witch things you train except the forms. I mean the "simple" exercises you start with and that build the
basement.

In our style (CCK TCPM), there are quite a bit of stuff.

For cardio:

4 way jumps
4 way punches
Leap punches
3 Punches (many variations)
Basic & advanced kick combos
rolling and falling exercises
etc...

stretching routine

strength routine

Kao Da (Menacle Strikes) - the 3 stars/2 stars arm pounding stuff. Again many variations. great for impact training

Sand Bag (palm bag and heavy bag) & other stuff

Sau Fa (solo & partnered)

2 Men drills:

Ng Long Tsui (five punch)
Dai Sui Hoi Moon (large and little open door)

Almost forgot 8 Basic Stances (short form) and Monkey walk (many variations)

Most important, sweating, grasping for air, and collapse. ;) :D LOL...

PS Qigong comes separately. ;)

reach for the beer,,,tip the beer,,,,rest,,,,.
tip the beer,,rest,,,,,,,,,,tip the beer,,,rest.
throw the empty beer,,,,,,,,get up,,,,,move slow and fluid like to get another beer,,,,,,open fridge,,,,,,,slowly reach for the beer(noticing every movement,,feeling zen) repeat steps above.

i would say that i do about 10 reps or so of this a weekend.

Many Respects,,,The Willow Sword:D

Do you consider conditioning basic? And where in your "class" do you do, I end all classes with conditioning.

I hear ya Willow...:)

Hi Yu Shan,

I am a firm believer in conditioning is key in Kung Fu (merits of hard work). I also believe Kung Fu is intergraded conditioning.

My typical class basically goes in the following order cardio, stretching, coordination, impact, strength, and meditation. Forms fall under coordination category. An interesting thing about Mantis basic drills is that they mostly combine cardio, coordination and impact in one exercise (ie Pai An otherwise known as Sui Hoi Moon in TJPM). Kao Da is also another example of building techniques while doing hardcore conditioning.
