I live in Ontario, Canada and i took taekwondo for about 2 years but recently i started taking kungfu among other things from grand master pan. I was wondering if anybody has heard of him and if he is really as good as he is suppose to be?

are you near a library or bookstore. If so, pick up a copy of "Iron and Silk" that should answer your question

sifu pan is really good. I took a seminar from him. Plus i've seen "iron and silk" (great movie, must see). his studdents seem good too. he really knows the martial applications to stuff.

Does anyone have the address for his school, or a website for him?

Kitchner is only 2 hours away i could drive up and do a class.

I didn't realize there was a movie of it. are you sure it's the same thing?

Yes, the movie is off of the book.

Of course, there are things in the book that couldn't make it into the movie.

Actually, Master Pan told the author that he wouldn't allow anyone but himself to play him, so it's actually master pan in the movie, and it's a fun movie to watch.

Thanks Iron, I think I'll just do that, pack up the wife and kid, and make it a day, let the wife shop, while me and the boy take in some Kung Fu :D

Put him in the ring. It's a great way to find out.

Pan Qing Fu doesn't need to go to the ring to prove himself. He used to single handedly catch gang members in China with no weapons using only his bare hands. I believe he has earned medals for this. So it's documented. He is also considered a "top" coach in China. I'd say from his reputation he is really good to train under. Never met him though.

I met him....He gets upset if you call him "Master Pan".....He is now called "Grandmaster Pan"....seriously. He is very cool. I met him at a tourney awhile back and he did a demo. Very agile for a guy I think is in his 70'S. Those knuckles are nasty!!!:)

I heard he use to be quite the fighter! He's not a MCDOJO guy...but he's not young anymore either! Give him credit this guy has good students that do spar full contact.

For an older guy h s certainly still Strong, Agile & limber...

Quite the Show man, but has Lots of very useful info that he's very will to discuss. (easier to understand if you speak Manderin)

There's lots of history about his being a Gangbuster. He's taught Chinese Police & is considered a top notch coach.

A little on the ecentric side surely... But so what...

He'll be in Cali for the KFM 10 Year Gala (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/ezine/10yr/index.html) and I believe is planing on holding a seminar or 2 while in town...

I think Pan Qing Fu and my teacher were classmates at some point. Also my frist teacher trained under him for a little while(and told me he's one of his favorite teachers). He's good but he's got an ego, and his uniforms are a bit hard on the eyes ;-) Those old wushu guys are tough! I think he seems pretty cool
