I got an email this week from a guy studying an Okinawan Karate-Do derived from Chow Gar! I've asked for more info and I'd love to see it. Anybody know anything about that?

hey!
on okinawan karate do, it depends on the info source, but most okinawan systems derived from
from such chinese styles as,fukienese white crane
lohon boxing, and tiger boxing.however this does not dismiss the notion that a system such as chow ga could have influenced or been part of an okinawan system. Many southern systems and northern
systems, alike played major roles in the development of these arts.systems such as uechei ryu,was considered to be based on three chinese styles, tiger boxing, dragon boxing,lo hon boxing.
there traits are highly visible within these styles such as there short stepping patterns,
dynamic tension, and plenty of arm work!
which is found in system such as chow ga,so.mantis
wing chun, white crane etc. The okinawan styles of
Goju ryu,was also highly influenced by kung fu!
hope this helped

The okinawan martial arts was heavily influenced by southern chinese martial art.

But Chow Gar family karate ? Never heard of it.

It could be a set within one of the system or styles of the okinawan system.
Because, there are various systems of okinawan karate or kenpo.

Chow Ga or Gar is basically a praying mantis system.

Or some okinawan martial artist could 've developed the Chow Family Karate.
