I just read this somewhere but I don't know what it means/stands for. I think I have a pretty good grasp of internet slang but wtf is fap?

It depends on where you read it, but on most of the newsgroups I frequent, 'fap' is considered to be the canonical sound of male masturbation. (i.e. "Winona Ryder and Lucy Liu naked and covered with butter? *fap fap fap*")

It's derived from the on-line comic strip http://www.sexylosers.com (warning: do not visit at work, unless you're mighty quick on the draw with the alt+F4 when your boss is walking by) and originally made its way to the newsgroups by way of alt.tasteless, although it's spread from there, and I've seen it used in that context on several internet forums. Your mileage may vary, of course.

In case you were wondering, the canonical sound for female masturbation (derived from the same place) is 'schlick'.
