Was just wondering if anyone here knew of a good kung fu school or teacher in Connecticut? Preferably in the greater hartford area. I've searched phone books and the internet and can't really find anything, so I was hoping someone here would happen to know a person who teaches privately or something. Thanks.

I hope I got these right,I just did a search and there might have been more but these seemed stable.
You might like to try searching with "google" engine as I did,or ask from other sites too.

Hello,

My Sifu teaches a class in Westport, CT on Wednesdays and Saturdays. He also teaches in NYC. Not sure where Hartford is in relation to Westport though.

Anyhow my sifus web site is:

Here are a few more for the Conneticut area:

Hope this helps ;)

Peace,

Dave

Thanks for the responses. A few of those links were pretty helpful. I am always looking for more though. I've done extensive searchs on google but unfortunately, there's not much out there I afraid, so I am still HOPING that someone knows a person who teaches but who doesn't advertise or have a centralized school location.

Wing Chun looks interesting, but unfortunately I don't know anything about it. Perhaps someone can give me a basic rundown of what it's all about? I'd ask my own Sifu, but he says it's nothing more than "acrobatics". That seems to be a very general and ill informed opinion so I won't let effect my descision.

Wing chun?
There must be tons of wing chun players in KFM boards.
Itīs one of the most well known styles of kung-fu,a large style,popular,well-known.
I donīt know where your sifu got that idea,I think itīs everything else but acrobatics, techniques are geared towards practicality.
This is one of the numerous sites around,I like it because it has pretty good technique demonstrations (more can be found from other sites, but not as good)

And oh yes,it was created by a nun.

BTW,it was Bruce Leeīs main "interest" and a style that he mostly based his own (JKD) on,that probably makes a couple of believers.

WC is a very grounded, short, practical style - typical Southern style really. Hardly any jumping or high kicks or flourishes, only a small amount of forms. There is no way one could see WC as acrobatics - it is probably one of the least acrobatic styles around. Perhaps he misheard you and thought you said "Wushu"
