Went to this all stlyes martial arts competition this weekend. There was a pretty good turn out from TKD, Tang Soo Do, Karate and some kung fu schools. It was my first and it really was an interesting expireance. It's amazing how little other martial artists know about kung fu 'wushu'. Some of the classic comments I heard were:

'Kung fu is almost as old as karate'
'Yeah it looks nice but has no real combat application'
'Our TKD guys really can **** anyone up with their kicks'

Now I'm a really nice guy and didn't feel that it was my place to vigourously object and kept quite most of the time and invited them to a Kung Fu/Sanshou tournament this month. Really hope they come. Anyways, is this the situation all over or our our guys just really naive?

Some people can convince themselves of anything.

Yeah, I get a kick out of a lot of that stuff. I got beat in a tie breaker against a karate guy in the empty hands kata/forms division because all the judges were from either kenpo, karate, or tkd. My form had far more depth, length, and I think I did it pretty **** good, oh well, no love lost, just a couple bucks.
