Please forgive my ignorance

What is Hakka? I've noted several people on here comparing it to various other arts and it has piqued my curiousity as to what it is. Thanks in advance for the info.

In short, Hakka is a chinese ethny famous for its warrior spirit. They were considered nomads, who supposedly descended from the north to southern regions of China (Hakka meaning the guest people), and were often living in boats.
Their women were said to be as fierce as the men (that, I verified hehehehhe). In short: a proud and fierce people.
Some styles were said to be passed on exclusively by Hakka people, and/or having been created by them...
The most notorious being southern praying mantis...

I was reading "Tai-Pan" by James Clavell...and there was a mention to Hakka boat girls who were taken as hookers. Just thought I'd throw that in :)
