Forwarding this info. on a XingYiQuan seminar with Li Tai-Liang.

-----------

Hi All:

I’m looking to have a 5-day xingyi camp with Li
TaiLiang late June 2003 in sunny Mission Viejo,
Southern California. It will be held Monday through
Friday and run roughly 9-4 or 9-5. If there is
interest, I’m entertaining the notion of adding the
weekend. Then the truly dedicated could train for 7
days, or folks who can’t make the week could attend.

My plan is to cover in 5 days, the 5 element fists.
The daily routine would be something like

MORNING:
Warmups/Fundamentals/Basic Gongs
Principles, requirements,
Solo exercises (to include the sequence) for the fist
of the day:
Stationary practice
Footwork
Standard sequence
2 man exercises appropriate to the fist of the day

AFTERNOON
Approximately 3 signature applications that exemplify
the principles of the fist
Counters to the above

My goal is to provide an environment in which one can
develop a functional grasp of basic xingyi.
Consequently, I have limited the material taught, and
have setup the curriculum in an orderly fashion, to
include the seldomly discussed principles and
requirements that are useful in guiding ones practice.
I also plan to have a printed curriculum with space
for the participants to write notes on and LTL has
also agreed to an optional companion video.

The cost for the 5 days would be $500. If there is
interest in the weekend seminar, I will price it
appropriately.

Knowing that this isn’t particularly cheap, I’m
giving notice about a year in advance so interested
parties can reserve their vacation time and save their
pennies. The site is close to the beach and centrally
located between LA and San Diego, so one might
possibly combine a vacation with the area. Folks who
have a hard time saving money, but are interested, I
could work out an pay by installment plan.

When I have 10 deposits, the camp will definitely
happen. I will probably cap it at 30, to ensure a
good learning environment.
