Has anyone learnt the stool form? I just completed the YKM stool form and think it's a great little form. Not so long but feel it's got some excellent applications that are just as applicable in todays world as when it was designed.

Maybe people could tell us the strangest weapon form they've learnt or seen!!

is it similar to bench? or is it the same thing, but the bench is called a stool instead?

Actually I did mean the bench form, stool would suggest something like a bar stool, so yes bench form. My mistake sorry.
Although thats one of the things that could be applicable, say for instance you're in a bar and some git pulls a knife well theres a perfect weapon, I quite like it as weapon.

Kung, have you learnt this form, is it a long or short form in you system?

I know the Choy Lay Fut bench form and it might have been practical 100 years ago when the restaurants had similar benches as seats but in this day and age to carry one around would be a bit odd.

As far as the forms go, you don't see too many people perform or who know bench sets.

Do you not think you can adjust to something similar. Granted it's a rare place that has these type of benchs but still even chairs can be used .
Is the clf form long?

Not real long, not real short. I would call it a short-medium length form.

Love the bench. I learned a choy li fut bench form, a "hung gar" bench form, and a ha say fu hung gar bench form. I make benches--and with the help of two of my students, ages 10 & 12, created a bench vs empty hand form that got them a first place and a standing ovation at the Great Lakes Kungfu Championships a few years ago. It starts with the boy knocking his little sister off the bench and ends with little sister sitting on him.

Traditionally the bench was a weapon of "last resort." Like many other "implement weapons" it was used when there were no real weapons at hand.

The bench techniques can be applied to other objects you might find in the 21st century. Some of the things that work well with bench techniques are: brief case, milk crate, mail tub, wash tub, quarter barrel, chair, saw horse (you musta seen jackie chan use a saw horse), trash can, even a flat board.

Love the bench.

Biu Ji, where I live, we call that "Hudsons Bay Rules"

whereby anything within arms reach can and will be used as a weapon.

These rules are most adhered to in Pool halls and Bars or course :D

It's a rough life up on the bay.

if your stool isn't properly formed you may need more fibre.
