Saw some wushu guys getting ready for training with the chain whip, and they had a cool little trainer made up out of rope, which appeared to have tiny weights inside rubber balls on the ends with some sort of fabric for making the cool noises :)

It seems straightforward enough, but I was wondering if anyone has made one of these before, and the materials they used.

It was the Ohio State Dragon Phoenix Wushu Team in case anyone cares :)

At my kwoon, we use the chain whip as is, but we take foam padding & cover the tip & the handle. That way there's not a noticeable difference once the skill level has been worked up to take the padding off. It's the same weapon & basically the same weight.

Just so everyone knows, chain whips hurt when you mess up.....
I've seen something similar, but for meteor hammer and rope dart.

I've already managed to slice open my right calf from starting out with the real deal. Bad ju-ju.

Quickest, cheapest and easiest way is to put a tennis ball on the end of a string.
