I think GunnedDownAtrocity is the best person on this forum to talk morality with - his views are...refreshing.

I like to learn a lot of this stuff from the I-ching and tao de ching. Also just looking at other Eastern philosophies..... Ch'an etc.
Then I would ask myself how that translate to the wu.....

I listen to myself - and I also listen to what's going on around me.

Sit still and OBSERVE.

I'm not looking to shape my own morals I’m just looking for inspiration for children’s stories.

Good idea. I can see how little boys would relate much easier to a samurai preaching moral values, than some pink luffy bunny wabit or a cute little puppy... I know I would have when I was young.

How do you plan to share your morality with the world? Are you going to write a book or something? Or is it enough to interact with people on a personal basis, and through the internet? How about sitting on your laurels, saying nothing to nobody, always? Proselytizing, anyone?

(morals form a big part of our social environment)
I think moral #1 should be, what are the rules for propegating these morals?

Dang it! Hit reply again after threadjacking again, without realizing it. I think the problem is that I look at the titles of these threads, and not the first post. I am the unintentional threadjacker, but from now on I will only threadjack intentionally.

No I have not heard the tale of the stonecutter.

I'm finding self reliance and some times you just have to open up a can of whoop ass are hard sells to kids. :D

In the latest issue of Kung fu mag. Grandmaster Ma Xianda list “De” as having 4 virtues and 8 guidelines.

Courtesy
Civility
Honesty
Ethics

Patriotism
Filial piety
Benevolence
Compassion
Trustworthiness
Grace
Righteousness
Harmony

Not the best retelling of this classic; my favorite (and I'm sure, not coincidentally the first place I encountered it) is a miniature illustrated book with text my Frank Kuramoto and ink drawings by John Muth.

I got turned on to this site a while back...I believe it was someone on KFO. A few of them are relatively "moral". :)
