Hung Gar Disciples Worldwide Memorialise Wong Fei Hung, the Father of Hung Gar

Hung Gar is a large clan in southern China, and its practitioners (Wong Kei Ying, Tit Kiu Sam, etc) are leading members among the ten tigers of Canton. The Southern Shaolin monastery was the birthplace of southern kung fu styles. The root of Hung Gar started from the Zen instructor Gee Sim. Historically, passing the Southern Shaolin Monastery’s famous wooden dummy alley, mastering the 18 complete combinations, and understanding Hung Gar’s every technique, develops a superior martial artist like no other style. In addition, Tit Bo Sum, Tong Zi Kung, Four Square horse stance, Gung Gi Fuk Fu, and Tit Sin Kuen are Hung Gar’s advanced stage Chi Kung material. The famous Tiger and Crane set is one of Hung Gar’s representative fist set, together with weapon sets like Ng Long Ba Kua Pole, Zi Mo Double Knife, Night Battle Double Sword, composes a complete special curriculum. The essence of this famous style was refined by many famous heroes throughout history, like Hung Hei Guan, Hung Mun Ding, Fong Wing Chun, Fong Sai Yuk, Luk Ah Choi, Tit Kiu Sam, Wong Tai, Wong Kei Ying, Wong Fei Hong, Mok Gui Lan, Lam Sai Wing, Wong Sai Wing, Chiu Kao, Shiu Ying, Chu Yue Jai, and Chiu Chi Ling. Today, to preserve this precious part of Chinese historical lineage and various artefacts, the Chinese government expended great resources to build the world’s one and only Hung Gar museum, located in Fut San city, Guang Dong province, dedicated to the great historical folk hero Wong Fei Hong. Also set up in Wong Fei Hong’s birthplace Xijiao Mountain are the memorial and kung fu practice halls, open for the world’s martial arts practitioners and local citizens to visit.

Grandmaster Chiu Chi Ling, a direct descendant from Wong Fei Hong, is tirelessly spreading the authentic martial art and traditional culture throughout the world. The Chinese government invited Grandmaster Chiu Chi Ling to be the memorial museum’s consultant, and he graciously accepted the honourable duty. At the same time he feels proud, and will work even harder to unite the world’s Hung Gar family.
