I'll give it a try, but does it have anything that can beat narration like.

"The two men stumble across the jungle sanctuary of an order of Squid Monks."

and

"These..."
(pregnant pause)
"...are horses."

John Travolta is the character played by Vinny Barbarino, not the real person.

Gives me fever

Thats not the coat Margie  :D

At 5'7" and change, I'm just at that in between height, taller than most of my female friends, shorter than all the rest of my guy friends, and shorter than half the girls I want to date.......:p I guess the trench coat is out of the question.

Serp... Are you one of the goths?

Margie, hope your friend appreciates your trips out there, and it sounds nice to get away oh, and the bulls here are usually reserved for the guys who don't mind making an arse of themselves, or girls who like to ride bulls....hmm.... maybe I should have worded that diferently...

csn.....WOW, you're in trouble now....lol

Goober, you're kidding right....

Miami was "off the chain" so to speak. I went down for a wedding, which was awsome. It was the guy who got me into kung fu, so it meant a lot to me. Cost me a lot too, his little brother and I are the ones who made sure he was "taken care of" the night of the bachelor party........ man, I really wish the strip clubs in Miami closed earlier... the latter of the two we went to didn't close until 8 am (and they were still serving, so we were still drinkin'). The beaches were nice, the training I got in was good too. I got to see all of the old college roomates (whom I haven't seen in over three years). Plus some other training friends from my first school along with my first sifu....

:D

I'll have to pm you about anything else......lol

ds - you should show them the real graphi payoff - bruce travolta. Can anything have been more sacreligious to CMA?

mam - Judy's page was wacky. Too wacky. And I can't beleive she said that work was boring that jack in the crack was yummy. That's messed up. Tell her I said so and if she has anything to say back to me, she should come on this forum and say it to my face. Yep, I'm challenging her. She'll never show. ;)

btw, for all the rest of you, Judy works here. Margie and Judy are almost always lounging around like in that picture when you all aren't ordering www.MartialArtsMart.com and www.TigerClaw.com. I'm 100% serious about that.

You are Nyarlathotep!
The 999 forms of Nyarlathotep are a point of meditation for the true initiate. It is through these manifold faces that the secrets of the universe are made known. Called "The Crawling Chaos", Nyarlathotep is the disembodied ego of Azathoth and thus the universal "I" of known reality. Some of the many documented forms are; Father of Knives, Nephren-Ka, the Black Man, the Beast of the Lashing Tongue to name a few.

I'm guessing he rigged a bobby trap of all his AD&D dice in the closet so when he goes to chose his pants tomorrow he'll be crushed by the onslaught of plastic cubes and dodecahedrons. Or possibly he tied all his magic cards to his feet and jumped into a river.

Well, it all depends on his THAC0...

Perhaps he scattered D4's randomly about his floor (we all know how much those buggers hurt when you step on them, right?)

Then he probably got all his geek friends to set traps for him, so fiendishly cunning that only his geekiness could save him. That way he'd be pitched against all his geek friends and either die by geek attack or come through it all as the top geek, therefore no longer having to kill himself. After all, if you're going to be a geek, you might as well be the best one.

As for the scattered D4's, I dunno... maybe he just likes that kind of pain?

Well, maybe, now he knows it's him!

How cool is this - we've got a battle of the uber-geeks going on.

OK, Oso vs FatherDog in a Caged Geek Match.

You each have to submit five totally geek oriented questions. Once answered, we'll decide who is the Uber-Geek. Assuming there's a draw, a panel of judges (the rest of us) will decide who's geekiest based on the answers given.

You guys up for it?

The IMDB doesn't say much about it, I'm afraid. (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0165602)

DS - yeah, that looks familiar. I'm gonna go for a kind of rougher, more cinematic look, in keeping with the tone of the script. A big source of inspiration is Guy Davis' work on Sandman Mystery Theater (http://www.comicbookart.com/davis/davis.htm).

@PLUGO
06-13-2003, 10:24 AM
Guy Davis used to both inspire & infuriate me...

I would alway wonder "how could this guy get a job at DC but not me!!! at least my charactors' faces don't morph from panel to panel!!!"

Ever read his Marqee comic?

Chang Style Novice

You think his character's faces change? I think they're simply fantastically expressive, myself.

No, I haven't seen much else by him. Nevermen, but that's about it.

@PLUGO
06-13-2003, 10:39 AM
Don't get me wrong, he creats wonderfully expressive charactors... if occasionally "clone like"

there was always a thing about how the eyes related to the rest of the face though... hard to explain & probably a personal reaction to his art...

SMMT was a great book for him... the syle & feel where unmatched...

I sort of dropped of mid run... how did the series wrap up?

I was particularly fond of how that charactor was so revitialized & latter made appearances in Starman as an 80 something year old super heroe, gas-mask & cain.

The when DC launched JSA he was brought back in a wonderful manor...

Chang Style Novice
06-13-2003, 10:47 AM
Well, Matt Wagner dropped out of writing duties, but Steven Seagle did very well moving up from scripting to full writer. Eventually, WWII broke out, and Wesley (having much earlier revealed his secret identity to Dian) asked her to marry him as he prepared to leave and join the anti-nazi resistance. She refused, although she was deeply in love with him because her career as a writer was just taking off and she had to pursue her own destiny, which was bitterly ironic since she had not long before discovered her late mother was a Jew. Anyway, the final issue was a tearful fairwell as Wesley boarded an ocean liner bound for umm...France, I think.

I saw the guest shots in Starman, but I don't know about the JSA stuff - how did that work out?

JSA secret Files:
The story essentially takes place in tibet after Wesley & Diane set out to travel the world. Diane died in India and Wesley begins having his prophetic dreams again.

It's "a gift," I believe, he imparts onto his former side Kick (once known as golden boy or goldie & is now adopting the name Sand). Subject to dream comunications from Wesley he begins to gather the remainding members of the JSA. In the mean time wesly is confronted by the evil MAGE (who will become a Legion of Superheros villian) who is amasing power for some evil sceme. He wants to take the power Wesley derives from his connection to The Dreaming. Defiantly the Sandman leaps from a mountaintop to his glorious death rather than be killed by this Mage.

Sand recieves post mortem comunications from Wesley who can comunicate to him via dreams. The JSA gather for his funeral in time to beging a classic epic battle with the forces of evil and such.

Classic comic style story telling with plenty of tips of the hat to alot of what's happend previously...

I kind of understand where you are coming from. But the movie wasn't really about smoking pot. It was about a mission to stop a movie. They rarely smoked weed in the movie. Besides, not all potheads act like that. Jay and Silent bob are recognized as losers. I say losers becuase they dont work, but stand in front of a liquer store all day, or at a mall. That does not pertain to pot heads. It pertains to losers. Hec...there not even failures. At least failures try. ok..now i'm babbaling. My point is, this movie represents two men that have nothing going for them, so they have the time to go and stop this movie from being made, so that internet freaks dont mock them. it seemed to me more of a spoof on hollywood, comics & internet culture all of which Kevin Smith owes his fame to. The 2 major Pot jokes I recall in the movie was the whole Scooby Do duby snacks gag (if you've ever seen the DVD version whoa!!! talk about a lipstick scene)... then there was the Bong-saber battle...

saw old school the other night.

it's ok, will ferrel is pretty funny in it as a washed up highschool footballer who hasn't grown up.

It's kinda like a toned down version of animal house in some ways, but pretty funny.

Well, the best movie about stoners is of course The Big Lebowski. Nothing else comes within an acre of high-grade humboldt county skunk.

Kevin Smith is a tolerable writer, but has no idea how to direct. He probably thinks "Mise-en-Scène" is how Jar-Jar Binks pronounces "I'm insane."

Uh, I beg to differ. The quality of books you read directly corresponds to class of the women you can bag.

Even ugly guys who quote Nietzche can bang pretty intellectual girls all day long. Good-looking guys who quote Spiderman can bang other good-looking guys who quote Spiderman all day long.

I just started Nabakov's Pale Fire for an online book club. I hope this means things start improving soon.

Pale Fire is good. Lolita is better. Widely considered the greatest novel of the 20th century, and rightly so, Lolita is perhaps more inter-textual, but comes out as a scathing look at American pop culture. A must read.

Do you have any idea how many beautiful women will undress upon the offer to do a pencil portrait of them?

I tell you, it got me through Art School and I didn't have to quote Nietzche, Spiderman, the Bible OR the Kama Sutra

Back to the point. Next time, tell them you want them to strip so you can model your a comic book character after them. Don't think they'll bite on that one, which was my original point.

Just in case GH - uh, I mean MK - is interested, here's a link to the book club thread at Peoples Forum:

http://peoplesforum.com/cgi-bin/forum?14@@.3eb54645.3eb54638/0

If that doesn't work, go to Peoplesforum.com, then click on Member Folders, then Reading Room Rumpus, then Book Club Rumpus: Pale Fire.

And if you aren't MK, but are interested, that's okily dokily too.

That may sound fine when speaking in broad strokes especially if you're into chicks that blow bums on Saturday nights...

But getting back to my original point. You've got trouble if you're going to base your dating solely on your "intellectual edge"... sure it may get you laid (depending on the "chick"). But intellect does not a whole person make.
