your loved ones can be burned, are they most important than water? or not?
would you trade a woman you love for 5 glasses of water? would you trade your loving parents, brothers, sisters? what if you were on the desert?

most water on the planet is dirty anyway, you should not post questions that disseminate doubts about my true value just because hate took over your heart for a moment.

Ok, I gathered up $76 from my birthday money and ordered some stuff. The thing was, remember when we talked a few months ago, I asked how to order online and you said print out the page? Well I kind of forgot, so I called. Originally I wasn't going to say "Hey get Margie", cause that would be kinda creepy. The guy who answered, I asked him about it and said that you told me what to do. He didn't quite know and so he forwarded it to you and you picked up and said right off the bat "You want to know about ordering online without using a credit card?" or something like that. There wasn't an opportunity to say "Hey Margie, it's Philbert." So I just played it out.

P.S. you have an beautiful voice. :p

Adam and Jack in Anger Mgmt. is good, not awsome, but much better than average compared to recent comedies.:) I watched LOTR two towers the other night.. thats a pretty cool flick, even if your not into dwarves and crap (plus having an 82" screen to watch it on is dope).

Actually, if it's 32-in. when folded in half, then multiplied by 16 as you suggested, that equals 512.

32 X 16 = 512.

The implication was that it is really 64-in.

25? :D That's a new one for me. My brother who is in that photo turns 25 this year. That is my neice btw (I have 4 brothers). He isn't the father though. I don't hold my neice much because she cries whenever I hold her for some reason.

And yes, I will most definately remember to call you next time I order. :)

Save for the little boy, that is me and my 4 older brothers. The guy with the white tie on was the groom (and the father of the little girl in that other photo).

Also, from right to left, you have the order in brothers IF you just switch me (second on the left) with the guy on the far left around. Then it would be order of birth.

Aye, none of my brothers will do anything now to me because they are afraid I'll beat them to a bloody pulp. At the wedding, when my brother was throwing the bride's belt thing, the bride said "Now no one beat each other up to get it." and I said "I REFUSE to catch it, I won't even try to catch it."

PHILBERT
08-30-2003, 09:23 PM
I never said I would rip it outta my oldest brother's hands in the blink of an eye. I didn't even think about it, I just did it. Everyone was laughing because I stopped, and just looked at it, staring, thinking "OMG..."

My brother's best friend (who is the brother of the bride, takes the whole "Hey man your sister is HOT" to a freaky new level) has a girlfriend and she said "Be sure he catches it!" so I turned around and said "Here dude, you can have it." Everyone was laughing, then someone came over and put it on my head.

My other brother Greg (pictured somewhere in the back above my right shoulder, you can see the upper part of his face) was the next to marry.

I love that photo though, I didn't realize the photographer caught it just right, because to be quite honest I didn't see my hand move and neither did anyone else. It was literally an explosive reaction, I didn't even stop the think about it.

And this was before all my Kung Fu training mind you, about 2 months before I started Wing Chun. :D

I liked the second zombie infestation program a lot better - the one where the humans have a choice to fight the zombies. But I think it's still flawed. A human who kills a zombie should have a better than 50% chance against his next zombie, and it should take more to panic him. Also, humans should calm down after a while and if they see a human kill a zombie, their chances to kill them should go up, too.

tips on trying to remember names:

when they are introduced to you as, "hi, i'm carrie," reply with, "nice to meet you, carrie."

that initial address of them will 1. reinforce their name in your head, and 2. give them a chance to correct you if you accidentally heard "terry." calling someone the wrong name when you first meet them isn't bad, but doing it the next time you see them will not earn any brownie points.

also, if you see that person repeatedly that day, each time you see them, say their name in your head to further reinforce it.

norther practitioner
09-04-2003, 03:29 PM
Or just stop embarking on activities that hinder short term memory...
I'm not great with names either though... My problem comes from when I meet people, it'll be like a room of 25 people, 5 I'll know, the other 20 the intro is like you this is np, np, everyone...

rubthebuddha
09-04-2003, 03:49 PM
and then the people come up later and introduce themselves:

"hi, enpee, i'm rachel. what ethinicity is your name?"

on a serious note, then you observe people, spot the ones you think are twats, and go introduce yourself to the non-twatish ones, and follow my previously described tips. within no time, you'll be the life of the party, even though everyone thinks your name is thai.

@PLUGO
09-04-2003, 04:15 PM
I've found simply stating that you're horrible with names and making an affort to recall it goes a long way...

If you get it correctly then they are flattered and that dramatic pause usually works wonders in getting them sympathetic to your plight.

If you get it wrong chances are you've already won their sympathy and there's little problem in them reminding you.

Judicious use of the Dramatic Pause may even have the nicer one's lending you hints (to which you can say... "no no no don't help me!" or something to that effect)

I've found by doing this I end up being much better with names than I even give myself credit for.

At a party or such it's also a very good idea to use their name often. I good game I've learned is to make the effort to introduce this new person to some you already know thus you gain practice in learning their name (and have someone you know that can remind you later if need be)

Shaolin-Do

Interestingly (okay, maybe not), the Musical Youth version of that song, which was the big hit in US and UK used the term "dutchie," which means cookpot. They're talking about serving dinner. The original, by some band I forget about used a different word, collie (I think), which means weed and was a hit in Jamaica. Apparently there was some fear of censorship over the drug slang. Not that it fooled anyone, of course.

Edit - Well, I had it almost right (http://www-personal.umich.edu/~parsec/information/tidbits/dutchie.html)

The original was by the Mighty Diamonds and had the title "Pass the Kouchie" (which would mean something very different here and now.)

That's funny.

A girl who used to live across the street from me had white tiger vanity plates for her mustang.

Or had no clue that someone on the other side of the world knows white tigers as shaven muff.

God I hope not.

She was not what you would call an attractive woman. If I had known then about the possible meaning of the phrase, it may well have filled my sleep with nightmare images.

But then you would have woke up once or twice to catch her staring at you while you sleep.

Well, there's things that never will be right I know,
And things need changin' everywhere you go,
But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right,
You'll never see me wear a suit of white.

Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day,
And tell the world that everything's OK,
But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,
'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black.

Here's hoping that wherever he is right now, his wardrobe is as bright as he wants it to be.

people that dont bang anyone should be given a card that allows them special advantages (paid by the governament), the "bang zero card", in thanx for your contribution in the birth control programs worldwide.
with the bang zero card you can ride buses for free (the driver nods discretly recognizing you're a cripple), discounts on restaurants, free movie tickets, special discounts on bookstores...

Between vacation and sick days I have over a month saved up now. I'm just hoping we have a lot of snow this year so I can *cough* call in sick with powderitis. Two seasons ago I had to call in with powderitis after I realized I had forgotten to tell my boss I was going out of town skiing (Utah had gotten over 100" in 100 hours). So I called from the diner that we ate at in Salt Lake City, getting a funny look from some of the truckers sitting next to me at the counter.:D

The biggest thing is not letting people bring in there own water... for a 3 day event where the temps were in the low 100s.... Other than that everything seemed cool up until the last night, when people started taking the plywood from the fence and burning it.. that is what caused the whole comotion to start, as soon as the chili peppers were done, I snuck out the back employee exit and got the hell out of there. I saw a lot of heat exausted/stroked people, and even more that were obviously dehydrated... I didn't have too much of a problem as I worked in a refrigorated truck changing kegs..... with all the free water and beer I could drink...
I didn't see the whole rape and fondling thing go on, but the place was enormous.... 3 stages, and you really couldn't see one from the other, it was a good 15 minute walk to get from one place to the other (not even stage to stage). People got ****ed over the water issue though, as some of the vendors bumped up there "set" prices, which were around $2, but I remember someone spending $4. They took the whole screw the system thing too far... which is sad because that was honestly one of the best times of my life.. George Clinton, G Love, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fatboy Slim, Jamiroquai, James Brown, Rage Against the Machine, Korn, Willie Nelson, DMX, etc...

I guess I'd have to say that people there were expecting something else I guess... What I don't know, you have to know when you can't bring your own food and stuff in you're going to get hosed on prices, adding to that is when the ATMs ran out of money the first day... The music was great, I met a lot of awsome people, and I guess just didn't get into the mob mentality...
Prices were high, the walks were long (like 30 minutes between the two main stages, and they scheduled crappy, like acts on different stages with overlapping set times).

All the free beer you could drink? Man, that's a sweet deal. Nice to hear a positive account of the situation. I figure someone had to have fun there.

Been a while since I've been able to check in on this thread. And I'm here just to advertise. Let's see, let's plug the trading cards (http://www.sportscardonline.com/kungfumag/) again. Why? I dunno. It's such a weird product that I figure I should push it for a while, just for fun. They really do come out high quality, much nicer than I thought they were going to come out when the project was first proposed to us. Apparently kids really dig 'em. Parent's too. I keep thinking that there's a way to promote them on the forum, but I can't figure out how - something like trading cards of your fav troll or something. Maybe if you could add your avatar. Hmm.

Well the riots were a few hundred people out of over a quarter million. The TV coverage was of the riot and fire after the concert was over, which was a few people in comparison to the masses... but it did leave a bitter taste in the mouth of many who's pallete was already scewed as they walked out (it took me about 1hr to get to my car). Looking at the fire, I don't think the people actually set the tractor trailors on fire, but rather set a booth on fire near them, and the fire spread.. things like that were not reported in detail, just that this and this are on fire, the mob is crazy, etc.. of course it looked crazy, but I think it was just the fact that you have 200,000 people walking out of a venue, and 500 of them decide to get rowdy, and a lot of it came from gate crashers who started ripping down the fence on the last day. Who knows.. I had a place to stay off site (they provided the old barracks at a low fee), food there, plenty of water, knew where to find shade, and free beer... I think the whole riot thing was over done.... but the promotors definitely didn't do a great job with enough security (I'd never blame them, they were just doing there job), access to showers and whatnot for the campers (the porta jons were some of the worst I'd ever seen too), etc.. but it is hard to design a small city for a weekend. On another note, no matter how many officers, security guards, etc. you have, there is no way of figuring out the mind of a sicko... in that right, I have to pass a bigger part of the blame onto the idiots who were sexual preditors rather than the promoters per say, but there is more they could have done.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 16 — Youngsters who smoke cigarettes are more likely to use marijuana than those who don’t smoke, according to a study released Tuesday.
THE REPORT BY the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University and the American Legacy Foundation said young cigarette smokers are 14 times more likely to try pot. Eighty-four percent of the kids who have tried marijuana have smoked cigarettes within the past 30 days.
The study focusing on 12- to 17-year-olds also found those who smoke cigarettes are six times likelier to be able to buy marijuana in an hour or less and 18 times likelier to say most of their friends smoke pot.
“Pot is a significant presence in the lives of teenage smokers,” said Joseph Califano Jr., president of the addiction center. “If kids are regularly smoking, you should be concerned they are smoking pot.”
Califano said anti-tobacco campaigns can help reduce pot smoking among young Americans and urged the Bush administration to educate people on the dangers of tobacco use.

-MSNBC.com

lol... And pot kills cause of all the deadly carcinogens! err... wait... Pots highly addictive! ... err... Pot smells really bad!... err... wait... those all describe cigarettes. I smoked herb waaaay before cigs, and in fact, when I started burning herb I still hated cigs. It was the X in 10th grade that got me smoking cigs, and the alcohol post 10th grade that continued the habit. I havent had a cig in like 3 1/2 months or so now... Only smoke herb at night time now... :)

With one in the river and one again after the fall
Swimming throught the void we hear the word
We lose ourselves but we find it all

Cuz we are the ones that wanna play
Always want to go but you never want to stay
And we are the ones that wanna choose
Always want to play but you never want to lose

Surely, there is always a disaster waiting to happen at any mass gathering, whether it be music, sports or who knows what? But the promoters should do everything they can to prevent it. It sticks out since there have been plenty of peaceful gatherings of similar magnitude over the years. Sure, there's been a lot of rough ones too - I worked a few - but that one really crossed the line. It will go down in history like a shadow of Altamont.

Good question. I really don't know why I'm doing it myself. Reflex maybe? I dunno. It's such an odd product that I felt I had to support it and add my energy to its promotion. I figure if I could get some feedback from the finest forum members on the planet, I might be able to figure out where to go with it. And the idea of forum troll trading cards really amuses me. The only bait I have for such a venture is our beloved Margie - maybe we should spin it into the Margie fan club? Or the got qi? girls trading cards? Come on guys work with me.

This is all part of my corporate scheme to return this thread to its original purpose (not a pot political soapbox for s-d :p ). The dagger hidden in the smile of our got qi girls is www.martialartsmart.com :D

As far as trolls, don't know if that will go over well, but the got qi girl cards might do a bit better if you can get several of them to jump on the wagon.:D
