Will I be taken more seriously as a martial artist after I go the buzz cut or should I just grow it out to a decent mullet and go the 70s porn-style moustache too?

I buzz my head... but only because it is far more convenient for me to do so.
Actually... in the kwoon I train at, most of us "higher-ranking" male students have our heads shaved... but it's just a weird coincidence... we don't have any requirement to do it.
I'd grow a beard/goatee/facial hair... but I'm not sure how Lisa would like that... she seems to prefer my face clean shaven ;)

hau tien's got it right -- what the girl says, goes. thought about biccing my head, but my girl likes it slightly fuzzy (clipped, but with no guard and the shortest setting possible). and the abe i thought about? no dice there either. sheesh

If you are losing hair or have a receeding hairline like some of us ;) and your head doesn't have that many dents and such in it...I say go ahead. Otherwise, listen to the women. :D

You see - it's getting hotter here is Oz and it's the time that I generally go the buzz. Benefits are obvious. But my girl is giving me the "I like it how it is" line.
Of course I will look super-tough once I go the shave. MWAHAHAHAHA!!

well im lucky in that respect - shaved hair short (just a little fuzz on top), coz its also receeding, and my gal also likes me to have a goatee and some stubble :p
but its true what she says goes or ill get my ass kicked :D

I shave when I go to Shaolin sometimes. If I stay a long time, it's more sanitary. Haven't been back in a while so my hair's really long now. My winter coat.

I have a shaved head and a beard, because it allows me to completely neglect my hair except for shaving it once a week. Saves a lot of time.
I was super-metalhead in high school and college. Washing a foot and a half of hair really adds up, in terms of time spent.
My girlfriend doesn't mind either way. It was my amazing ass that attracted her to me, anyway, not my hair. :D

An important note: Shaving one's head does not necessarily make one look tough...... you need the body and face to go with it.... otherwise you run the very real risk of looking like a skinny leukemia patient.

all you gotta do is hit escape and it stops. problem is, it usually stops all blurry, and if you've been looking at it for too long, the blur is actually worse.

I shave my aging mother's head.
For a winter coat, I paint myself red.
My hair is too long, tied back in the regulation chonmage (doubled-over pony tail, just like granny's bun) and now I have viral pneumonia, people think I'm a Steven Seagal freak. Time for a buzz. Think I'll stick my fingers in the socket.

My hair is regulated by the weather. Hot = short buzz, cold = uncut unshaved homeless looking type do.

You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. Spartan veterans were allowed to keep long hair, it made them look fearsome. Only the rookies kept their hair short. And you know what the spartan veterans did to the spartan rookies?:eek: :eek: :eek:

Personally, I'd go with the mullet. Business in the front, party in the back.
Plus, balding guys with mullets are a special kind of wonderful.
The chicks will dig the mullet, go with the mullet.

Well.. I gave her the choice... either I buzz it off (No guard... small stubble), or I grow it long.... She chose buzzed ;)
Actually... I grew my hair back for the wedding... The wedding pics look better with me having hair.
As for the facial hair... It's easier for me to shave my whole face, rather than worrying about trimming a goatee... but I may try to slip one in right away... hehehe
EEEK!! Here she comes! No... I won't grow a goatee!
