I've always said that hunting isn't really sport - in sport, both sides play under the same rules, and differences in skill aside, have an equal chance of victory. This doesn't totally change my mind, but is certainly a step in the right direction.

GO BAMBI!

But 800 000 hunters go out over the season and only 325 000 deer get shot....to me that puts the deer in a the lead?

You're missing my point. How many humans do the deer kill?

How about bull-fighting? Talk about pointless...

Nice avatar and caption, CSN. I still have that Criminal Minded album (big 33 rpm) in my drawer right now.

I can never decide if KRS, Chuck or Rakim is truly the greatest MC ever. And you gotta love the line that comes after the one I'm using for my tag: it describes the general tone of this board perfectly. The only reason I didn't use it instead is the length.

"You're looking for a style like mine but can't find it!"

EDIT------

on a related note, here's the track listing for a mix cd I made for a friend who's having sonic wars with his downstairs neighbors. This is one to be careful of, I know from experience that at least two of these songs can blow a speaker. And so, I call this mix "Woofer Abuse"

"What's Golden" Jurassic 5
"Mortal Thought (Kenny Parker remix)" KRS1
"Steppin' to the AM" 3rd Bass
"Blood/Bullies of the Block" Freestyle Fellowship
"End 2 End Burnaz" Company Flow
"Let My Niggas Live" Wu-Tang Clan (featuring Nas)
"I Against I" Mos Def and Massive Attack
"Bumpin' Contraption (the Recalibration)" Latyrx
"Now What?" Extra Prolific (featuring Opio)
"Gimme the Loot" Notorious BIG
"Souf Wes Rida" P.E.A.C.E.
"How I Could Just Kill a Man" Cypress Hill
"Crash" Public Enemy
"The Prose Officially" Pep Love
"Jeep Ass Niguh" Masta Ase
"Thirteen" Organized Konfusion
"Hold the Floor" Camu Tao
"Stay Chisled" Large Professor (featuring Nas)
"It Ain't Hard to Tell" Nas

Ugh, and it's exponentially worse when these hunters keep a trough of corn stocked right next to their deer blind.

It makes me want to build a little open shack in these fields and always keep it stocked with beer and porn. Then I could shoot little paralizing darts at the hunters who come and go, stand over their motionless bodies and say, "See? See how easy and unfair your way is?"

Actually, I've got no objection to keeping deer populations under control, and hunting is bound to take a role in that. But the morbidly obese, drunken shlubs that think blowing up a gentle herbivore from dozens of yards away with a thunderstick somehow makes them a tough, savvy woodsman?

Fu(kabunchathatsh!t. Give these guys a flint knife and a loincloth and set 'em out after bear. Then we'll see some sport.

I don't have a problem with hunting, in and of itself, either. I don't really buy the whole population control excuse. The result of not doing that will be the deaths of deer. The solution is the deaths of deer. Dum de dum dum, okay, whatever.

I just think the hunter has some relationship with his meat source. He caused the death himself and saw the blood flow. I can get behind that much more easily than I can get behind some fat housewife buying a steak wrapped in celophane at the supermarket. I couldn't convince myself that a deer has more right to live becasue it's pretty, a cow isn't so its life is meaningless.

My open shack idea is just a way to make these guys understand that what they are doing is neither tough nor a sport. If you want to hunt, hunt. But let's call a spade a spade. What you are doing is easy.

CSN: how about one of our local pastimes: take corn and other goods, throw them on the road on the way to bar to get wasted. Once wasted, drive back the same way and make a game out of running over the deer and other animals that have gathered....

BTW Jurasic 5 to me is like listening to schoolhouse rock over and over and over again.

And Santa Claus isent real.

Well, I believe that white-tails will (in the absence of a controlling predator, which no-one seems to be willing to tolerate unless it's trigger happy rednecks and not cougars or coyotes) become a feral nuisance on the order of possums or raccoons, only bigger and more likely to wreck your car if you slam into one.

Other than that, I agree completely with you.

Yenhoi -

I scarcely know what to say to that, except 'you got problems.' And anyway, what's wrong with Schoolhouse Rock?

Speaking of Nas, how the hell do you digress lyrically. That first album is classic, the others just bubblegum. I guess with no AZ to write with you and the words ain't there. as for Illest MC ever, we all know its the "16th Letter".

"Planet earth was my place of birth, born to be the sole controller of the Universe".... Wow double entendres abound, and the mood is definitely set. "Sole" could be "soul", so on.

Those cats in FF, Acey Alone, Mikah 9, Self Jupiter and Peace are supa-dupa-phat, too! Other than OC, where's the Pharoah Monch'? That guy is ridiculous with the skills!

Check the intention, Omgapoint. This mix isn't about lyrics (although it's got plenty of 'em) this mix is about BASS to p!ss off the neighbors. I'd like to have put some Azeem and Mr. Lif on there (check that sh!t, man - I can tell you'd appreciate it) but it just doesn't have the neccesary low end theory and practice.

Anyway, Nas on "Stay Chisled" seems to be back in his old form. Hope it lasts. I don't want anymore "Oochie Wally" cr@p coming out of such a talent.

I just sent that page to all my friends and quoted CSN's first remarks. Right on man!

The hunting is a sport argument goes something like the fishing is sport agument.

Fishing with a net is profession, fishing with rod and reel is a sport.

Trapping animals is a profession, hunting them is a sport.
