I think it was a point tourney. you know point fighting back in the day was more clean than it is now, though. If that was recent, Kelley woulda been DQed for excessive contact.

well, he competed from like 74 - 89, but the footage doesn't look extremely old, so I would guess it's from the late 80's. He's actually got a pretty impressive competition record

I gues he wasn't "world champion" of that particular encounter.

but he's still world champion of all those other contests right? heh heh.

That's what I'm thinking. He's a 7 time world champion, but this was probably an early fight, or toward the end of his career....or, he was having a bad day?

nobody who ever fights full contact cant say that he never got knocked on his butt (or on his back). but some of you younger guys should stop putting down one of the baddest fighters karate of all times. billy blanks could whip most of the fighters around in there prime, in there prime.

billy did fight full contact and point (and made some pretty bad movies), but he is still one of the fastest, and strongest and smartest fighters of his day

Dude...take it down a thousand. I do fight full contact and have been knocked on my butt. it's funny as hell when it happens to me too.

point karate is raquet ball, call it a recreation or a sport, don't call it fighting. Wearing pool flotation foam on your feet and flicking your hands and legs out to tap someone with no kicks below the waist, no contact to the head, no grappling, etc isn't "tough"

I know, I'm not a karate legend, I just train guys who fight San Shou and Muay Thai, we don't know nutting bout no fittin

I saw one movie with billy in it where he is doing all kinds of crazy push ups. Going in Cricles and what not. Next time soem asks about push ups I'll tel lthem to watch that movie. oh yeah, I don't remember what it's called.

I think the bad guys trap him in the sauna and intend to torture him with the intense heat and humidity, but he defeats their intentions by training in there.
