cool interview... but dude... your avatar is scary as hell...

The development phase included a great deal of full-contact sparring...The styles had to function believably as battlefield-worthy fighting skills...

I sure wish "Streetwalking cheetah with a heart full of napalm" or "Runaway son of the nuclear a-bomb" was under 25 characters. "The World's forgotten boy" just fits though.

Wouldn't Iggy have made a great Urak-Hai? I mean, I'd rather see him as Aragorn, but what are the chances?

the "Fighting Styles Guidebook" we produced for continuity reference

I'd really, really like to read that Guidebook.

word. I'm sure they will put it out for reference.

I also can't wait to see the movie. Even though it will stop short like the last one, making me crave it for another year.

I thought this guy did a great job in the last one. I'm also sick of seeing wushu jet li styles added onto differnt cosutmes such as the Musketeer or even Le pact de le loups.

Tony Wolf is on the western-arts egroup @ yahoo, says:

From: "Tony Wolf" <lone_wolf_9@h...>

Hi Jim,

I'm afraid the Guidebook is copywritten to the production company, and it
contains information on styles that haven't been seen yet; commercial
sensitivity issues.

I'll be passing through LA in a few weeks - perhaps we could communicate
further on the "Keltiad" project.

Cheers,

Tony

He did write later:

>2. Do you have an address, contact, or PR person at the production <snippity snip>

The Guidebook was produced as an in-house reference and continuity resource,
and basically there's no way it's going to be released - sorry. Please
don't try to smother anyone with emails, it'd be like trying to teach a pig
to whistle (won't work, and will annoy the pig.)

On the brighter side, possibly, I have had an offer to work on a book/video
project that would address the style design process, among other things. It
won't appear any time soon, but I'd like to pursue it eventually.

Now that might be OK. Also some vague talk about a tour, showing off the production, maybe showcasing the curriculum for fighting, to recoup costs [doubt it- its a top-grosssing film]. Very vague, anyhow.

Maybe not 'til they put out the third one on DVD, but they're gonna try to milk the merchandising sh!t out of this movie. I'll give 50/50 odds that sooner or later something along the lines of 'fight like an elf' will show up.

Plus, there's liable to be an underground trade on this stuff before then. Some folks are GNUTS about this stuff. I know people from a movie forum I go to that speak elvish and sh!t.

not to be completely random and off-topic, but Chang, where the hell did you get an Iggy Pop avatar? That's just bad arse.

I just photoshopped it up. My offer still stands to make an avatar out of any photo any member wants to link.
