as i sit down to two bacon sammiches (lettuce, dark bread), i feel it necessary to encourage others to do the same, so we may not forget the sammiches that have come before. we should honor them, so i hereby declare today bacon sammich day. it is a flexible day, so as soon as you read this message, you have 24 hours to enjoy at least one bacon sammich.

folks like dezhen who have reasons to not eat pork are excused from this food requirement, but they are still required to eat something nummy -- something that will truly make your tummy smile.

much of it all is just about homage to bacon. if you drown it out with other tastes, you're missing out on a lot of goodness.

dezhen is on the right track with a bacon substitute, but that's only if you can't/won't eat bacon.

The closest I came was having a turkey club yesterday, from which I dutifully removed the wagon wheel looking tomato slices.

While there certainly was turkey in the mix, there was a generous amount of bacon as well.

The tradition stays true in my family as well. My youngest son who does not like to eat meat will happily chow down on bacon at every opportunity. The legend continues.

Mayo and PB are semi popular but the onion addition
isn't.

With all the fat from the mayo and pb the onion acts
as a tonifier for the blood.

And it really is tasty.

and usefull as a midnight snack incase you don't really
want her to stay all night :D

Turkey Rashers are a great substitute for bacon - we can get them in england, dunno about the usa. They are 98% fat free, are all good, edible meat, and actually taste much nicer than bacon imo.

Remember the scene in "S natch" where the crime boss decribes why villans have pig farms? Anyway turkeys are stupid, they can literally drown if they look up in a rain shower. Not to mention the fact that I think a pig would be a superior ground fighter.
