Does anyone know what to do to devlop neck strength for head butting?

place your palm on your forehead. Move your neck down, but resist against it with your palm. you can do the same on the back of your head.

If you have a partner, you can have him cup both of his hands together. place your forehead in his palms, and only support your body with your knees and forehead.

If you have access to universal and nautilus machines, they have the '4-way neck' machines

attach weights onto a string, and the string onto a belt. tie the belt around your forehead and do neck raises. It will work just like the first exercise I mentioned with your hands on the back of your head

I would condition my head before I would build strength. Most peoples necks are strong enough to deliver a blow that will hurt, them as well as the opponent.

1) A head butt, properly done, doesn't involve much neck movement; you should be leaning your torso back a bit and then doing a fast crunch with your abs, to bring the crown of your head (right around the hairline) forward and down into his nose/eyebrow area. Curling forward with your neck helps the velocity a bit, but it should be a very minor part of the movement.

2) Back, front, and side bridges are excellent for developing neck strength.

The headbutt ideally is for soft areas, like the bridge of the nose. head conditioning shouldn't be a major factor.

You should also be taught how to headbut so as to not injure
yourself. Just smakking your head into someone else's head
could do just as much harm to yourself.

Bridge work to build neck strength would help in any head attack. Yet simply the cranium, needs attention. As mentioned before, soft areas are the right "spots" to attack! Use the correct area of the cranium for the attack. Should be no problems...a nice in close weapon, in some empty hand forms! If you are taught the two-person to your form.

the 'third fist';)

most movies show the use of the center of the forehead.
that would generally be a bad idea.

you can also succesfully use the head to 'grind' into soft areas
and nerves while grappling. And, that concept was first given
to me by my HS wrestling coach !! "What the ref doesn't see
didn't happen" was his motto. hmm, I'm also remembering
him as the first person to talk about how to cause pain to
someone w/o leaving a mark.

wrestlers are great with pressure points also.

yea, my high school coach was a mean *******.

I cracked and jammed the ring finger and pinkie of my
right hand going for an ankle pick in practice and was
whining about it and he came over and asked to look
at them and like a dummie I let him...and so he proceeded
to grab and pull them and I about blacked out.

My fingers, of course, popped back into joint but
the sadistic grin on his face warned me about letting
him tend to any injuries I had.

I wouldn't have traded him for any other coach though.

Yup wrestlers are great at running off the boat and getting shot first.

A good pointer for headbutts - if you can see your target you are gonna hit with the wrong part of your head. By tilting your head forward you protect the 'softer' parts of your head.

Headbutts are very effective if you grab your opponent's head and then deliver the shot. It's very hard to miss if you are holding your target. Your head can instinctively find your hand.

Just a thought.

and I always tilt slightly to the side to get the impact on one
of the larger plates of my skull.

Now, that's good thinking.

You'd be surprised how many people want to both look at someone's nose and headbutt it at the same time.
