Many Chinese forms have the words mother and son in them, like mother and son braodswrod and so on.
Does anyone know what this indicates about the form or its signifigance? Thanks.

I believe this is a reference to when two weapons are used more or less in tandem, one following the other closely throughout the movements.

I recall it being used as reference to the relationship & interaction between the arms/hands, with one hand following up and protecting the other. I think the 'son' was often the lead and the 'mother' the follow up and protecter, not only in strikes and covering, but in chin na and chin na counters.
