A bomb blast has killed at least five people and injured 11 others in a hotel in the north Chinese province of Shaanxi.
The explosion blew a hole 10 metres (33 feet) deep and seven metres (20 feet) wide through three floors of the Jingbian Hotel in Jingbian County on Wednesday evening.
Local residents told the Chinese state news agency Xinhua that they feared more people were still trapped under the rubble.
A police spokesman said the blast had been caused by a chemical fertiliser bomb, but did not say if anyone had claimed responsibility for the attack.
"It was a man-made explosion. It was a chemical fertiliser bomb," the police officer in Jingbian, about 720 kilometres (450 miles) southwest of Beijing, told the French news agency AFP.
A bank housed in the hotel was destroyed in the blast and surrounding buildings and cars were also damaged.
Armed police, fire crews and ambulances rushed to the scene after the device exploded at about 2000 (1200 GMT) on Wednesday and the hotel was evacuated.
A police investigation is now under way.
