Regarding Joseph Cheng- the story on his death placed him not in
Saudi Arabia where he had been before but in China (PRC).

Forgive my ignorance, but who is Joseph Cheung?

Back in 1970' Joseph Cheng was a personal body guard to a

Royal Prince in Saudi Arabia.

Joseph Cheng was the best known student of Lee Sing who helped take wing chun to the UK. Lee Sing supposedly combined
some Ip Man wing chun with mainland probably side body wing chun. Some of the Brit, sifus trace back to Lee Sing.
Alan Lamb, the first Brit WC sifu learned from Lee Sing, Joseph Cheng and Paul Lam and later from Koo Sang in HK.
Paul Lam was an early student of Leung Sheung and came soon after Lee Sing. Paul Lam was/is Hakka in his background and was pretty tough guy. The Lam students and Sing students belonged to different rival kwoons.
Lee Sing and most likely Joseph Cheng have passed away. Paul Lam no longer teaches. He had great forearm strength- compensating for his legs which had been affected by childhood polio.
Joseph Cheng has had atleast one possibly two books out on wing chun. He went to Saudi Arabia ostensibly to provide body guard training for the royal family.
Rumor had it that he had gone to PRC next where he was supposedly killed. Naturally, I would be delighted if the last statement proves to be untrue and that he is alive.

There is a book on Amazon.com called Wing Chun: The Art of Simultaneous Defence and Attack (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0873643771/qid=1043122189/sr=1-8/ref=sr_1_8/102-6376123-9708160?v=glance&s=books) with his name in it, so he might of written other books. Used is going for just under $70 though!

Edit:
Also there is one called Chong Woo Kwan Wing Chun (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/090176440X/qid=1043122281/sr=1-13/ref=sr_1_13/102-6376123-9708160?v=glance&s=books)

Hi russellsherry

My first wing chun teacher in the early eighties was a student of Joseph Cheng so that would be a good thing to hear.

Can you get any more information?

Thanks,
