I've studied some kung fu and karate in the past and I'm currently looking for something that has an emphasis on throws, takedowns and joint lock type stuff. I'd even be interested in some of that shui chiao chinese wrestling stuff.

The closer to San Francisco the better, willing to travel a bit for a good instructor, say maybe 15-20 miles one way.

thanks

OLD NEWS

- In the editorial section of the August 2002 issue of Black Belt Magazine, executive editor Robert W. Young rates Master David C.K. Lin as one of "the masters who could have signed me up for lessons within a half hour of saying hello". On page 46, there is also a picture of Master Lin hurling Sifu Cheng accompanying the "Sports Medicine" section.

- COMBAT SHUAI-CHIAO Head Master David C.K. Lin was here in May 2002! His visit was definitely a busy one! Aside from testing different safety equipment and doing a photo shoot with Sifu Cheng for an upcoming article in Black Belt Magazine, Master Lin also administered his second black belt testing here in Los Angeles..... Dean Y. Quan became the first student from Los Angeles other than Sifu Mark Cheng to test for his black belt directly under Master Lin and Sifu James Lin. You can e-mail the West LA Combat Shuai-Chiao Club at ChanChiao@aol.com for more information.

- Volume 3 of the Combat Shuai-Chiao video series is AVAILABLE NOW! This tape covers the Chin-Na joint locking skills (with valuable information on arresting holds, submissions, and lock defenses) of Combat Shuai-Chiao, demonstrated by Master David C.K. Lin. You can order your copy by clicking here.
