I may be cornering for my former classmate this Saturday. Any tips? They were giving grapes to the fighters of one school between rounds, at the last one of these tournaments.
I think it's mostly instinctual - actually, he cornered for me last year at one. It helped me alot. I'm sure I'll be up for it, with the emotion involved.

I once cornered for a friend - didn't even know he was fighting until about an hour before the fight, so we didn't have time to work a strategy. What I found was that I spent the whole fight telling him to keep his hands up, so you might find that useful.
BTW he won :)

Yeah, it was Daryl and yes he was a natural fighter. However he had not done a minute's training for the fight and his hands were dropping constantly. But man he had a mean kick :)
Kinda wish he was still training :(

It will be cool because I can give him strategy. Plus he will be the one actually taking punches :D

Give him bad advice, for a laugh.
You know, stuff like, "Keep your hands at your chest", "Lead with your chin", stuff like that.

Yeah Dezhen2001 I remember that from my boxing days as well. One time in particular I had just eaten an Uppercut and all I hear is coach saying, "You kept your hands up, good job." Meanwhile I'm seeing double!

Note to self: NEVER let serpent be my cornerman

cheese dog: uppercuts dont taste good! :( usually it was my own fault as i had already been doing karate for 7 years then, so was used to having my guard a little lower :p
fa jing: one good thing, especially if hes eating a lot of punches is to try and keep the morale up. i know when i was sparring with this big guy once he was clocking me left right and centre. i really felt like i was fighting the terminator or something  but my coach and friends kept me going until i eventually caught him with the most beautiful left hook  It seemed he was so aggressive because he had a bit of a glass jaw, so once i found that out things were much better.

well, no one showed up to fight in my friend's division. He got 25 bucks just for showing up. Of course, he paid 35 to compete...:D
