I believe you could obtain a copy of the BaBu Lienhuan Quan video by Tainan Mantis. It would provide some visual answers to your question. There is a thread about it on this forum. Please check it out.

Most of the of the applied mantis skills have a throwing component such as retreating step mantis catches cicada. This movement is the found near the beginning of Bung Bo Kuen.
The throwns are sudden not round. The goal is to seperate the gates of the body and use the ground as weapon. The throwns also are used as part of mantis set-ups.

Wouldnt recommend reading about throws in Mantis, try having your Teacher show you!

The unforeseen, abrupt, sudden attack...can easily leave you staring upwards while in the lying position.

Agressives throws can be found in the first attacking line of Bung Bo Kuen: bow step/piercing
palm-bow step/forward punch.
The first line of Dar Gong Kuen: seven-star step/upward punch.
The first line Sahp Baht Sao Kuen adds:Forward horse step/downward pressing eagle claws to the above seven-star step.
Also,Mui Fah Sao Kuen a has combination of twisting and pressing throws in the second line.
This is just to name a few.
