I'm just studying and then watching the commercials when they come on. I don't like football. I'm not a very good American. I don't like Basketball, either.

Lol, funny communication breakdown. Football to Europe is soccer to yanks, however football to Yanks is not soccer to europe. More like rugby no?

dezhen2001

I care. They pre-empted my Fox cartoons for some dumb movie, since they didn't want to waste airing new episodes against the superbowl.

I did get to see some 7 year old iska fights on espn2, though.

Could've been worse.
Could've been the Paul Mitchell Tournament.

It was actually pretty good. Two of them were fought under muay thai rules, and Ernie Reyes Jr. scored a big ko on Anthony Elsaid (or something) with a straight right. And Pajak Lek did some excellent throwing from the clinch, but got ate up by ooutside roundhouse kicks from Ryan Simpson, who was about a foot taller and had abs that looked like a shrink-wrapped six-pack of apples.

The women's fight in between was pretty lame, though.

u mean Ernie Reyes Jr. of ninja turtles 2 and surf ninja's fame?

Yes.

Indeed. His kicks looked good, but it was boxing skills that got him the KO.

Team Paul Mitchell at least has good hair........and strong lungs. They can't fight or do forms (open hand or weapons) for ****, but their hair never moves....you notice that?? And, the ONLY way they can win is using creative wushu forms and gymnastics stuff....so much for your HARD styled teams huh??

I don't consider hair that can't move to be good hair.

Hmmm...they just accounced a couple of guys that do "chinese boxing" on the iska reruns. I'll be back in a half hour or so.

ESPN2, kids.

edit -

Okay, that was WAY less than half an hour. Mike Altman gave Art Palacios a bunch of right hooks to the head in the first round and it was lights out in 1:22.

good timing, I just caught the first round ko on espn2.

I watched a crazy kung fu flick "Mantis Fists, Tiger Claws"

A woman gets pregnant by a praying mantis and has a daughter
who is a weremantis and turns into a mantis every time she
has sex and has to kill the guy she just had sex with. !!!!!!!

Above average fight scenes but a crazy story.

next fight...

Oso -

The next fight wasn't much of a fight either, huh?

I wonder how old these fights are?

Holy mackerel! They just accounced Cung Le is going to fight!

Oso
01-26-2003, 08:43 PM
welll, cung le is up next. so, not too old.

btw, I just picked up the dvd for that kf movie I watched at
Suncoast. Only 9.99 and it has 2 movies on it. The second movie
looks really bad. www.rarekungfumovies.com rates MF,TC as
4 stars and the second movie "Duel of the Brave Ones" as 1 star.

ok, the announcer just said that cung le's fight was a
"kung fu affair" and cung le's opponent is about to get his
a$$ handed to him I think.

Chang Style Novice
01-26-2003, 08:48 PM
Yeah, that Garrett guy looks like a tomato can right now. Cung needs to ease up on the axe kicks, though.

Oso
01-26-2003, 08:54 PM
hey, I've got a new hero. If an overweight white guy can last
that long against cung le and actually hit him a few times and
negate a couple of cung's techniques then there is hope for me
yet:)

Chang Style Novice
01-26-2003, 09:00 PM
I didn't notice him negating any techniques...but I like your attitude! I'd have been turning my socks yellow in that guys place.

Oso
01-26-2003, 09:08 PM
well, imo, he stopped the two axe kicks but couldn't get the
throw out of it either time. But, I think he had the throw the
first time he caught the axe kick but pulled it because they
were on the ropes. He stopped the kick but did NOT even
come close to following up w/ the throw the second time.

The sweetest move he had was just a simple flank to evade a
spin kick of cung's. He wasn't aware enough to follow up, again.
But, he completely read the kick and was moving before the
kick fired out of the coil.

all in all I think he did very well vs. cung le. Better than anyone
else I've ever seen fight cung but I've only seem maybe 6 CL
fights.

cung le is just very tight in every thing he does, very aware.

Chang Style Novice
01-26-2003, 09:10 PM
Oh, yeah. I forgot the axe kicks. I even mentioned them upthread!

This is the first time I've seen a full CL fight. Like I said - based on what I saw, fighting the guy would be a real bladder problem for me.

so, how about that 'creative breaking'?:p

Oso
01-26-2003, 09:14 PM
lol, my girlfriend (an ex tkd 'breaker') just got disgusted with it.

I'm feeding the cats:)

but, yeah, he stopped the axes, and had some decent defensive
movement. I'd be tickled pink to get to the 3rd round vs. cung.

although, in a rare moment of ego, I'd like to get in there just to
jam that da mn scissors takedown he keeps suckering people
with;)

Looks like this "Super-bowl" thingy is finished now.

IronFist
01-26-2003, 11:32 PM
Ok, I actually watched most of it and I must admit it wasn't too bad. A few parts were actually exciting. Oakland got screwed a couple of times by bad calls. But whatever.
