When my Granny got the alzheimer's, we had to put her in a home for similarly challenged older people. One of the Nurse's there was like that. I used to love going to vist granny just to talk to her and hear her stories.

She wasn't quite as sardonic. I guess it's less depressing when it's the end of the person's life and not the beginning.
