Due to some recent emails and private messages I have received I answer with the following:

If you are concerned with avatars or personal information of other members of this board.

First, if you go into your -user options- you can select to not view other peoples avatars.

Secondly, you can send a private message to the person who is offending you and ask them to change their avatar.

Thirdly, you can ignore all posts by the person who offends you.

Finally, if you really have a problem with another member of this forum, you can send a private message to the administration and express you concern. The action taking by the forum administration if any, will be dependent on the severity of the offense.

As a moderator, I do not have the system rights to ban anyone or alter their private information (including their avatar) in any way.

In summary, be aware that this is a public forum and you do not have to read posts by others if you feel they are likely to offend you. Links to pornography, hate or posts of questionable materials will be removed from the threads at the discretion of the administration or the moderators.

regards
David

About pornagraphy, does that includ avatars depicitng a little guy Boffing another one in the butt?

If it does not, then I sugjest you turn off the text censors. If that perticular avatar is acceptable, then language, of any type should be too, as the avatar in question is much more offencive that anything written.

He said you arent required to read others posts or look at others avatars.

Pretty standard Id say...

What is if like to view avatars, except for that one perticular "tripple X" rated one?

What I see here is an inconsistancy. If that avatar is OK, then there is no reason why we should not be able to post pictures, even pornographic ones. HOWEVER, if we can't post pictures, especially pornographic ones, then that avatar should also be banned. It is clearly a pornographic animation.

What are the rules here anyway?? Is pornagraphy allowed, or is it banned?? Make up my mind already!

Royal Dragon-

It's the Honor system when it comes to your personal information and avatar.
Some people feel compelled to be idiotic and tactless.
This can't be helped because you can't cover all of the openings at the same time...just like kungfu!

Anyway, NO, porn is not allowed and I don't think it "should" be allowed either.

Profanity is discouraged and the rules to forum usage are quite clear. Of course the risk of being banned is run by those who persist in behaviour and postings not within the boundaries of decorum as outlined in the rules of the forum.

Essentially, you can't legislate against stupidity.

cheers

So your going to ban the guy with the pornographic avatar??

If it was me, i'd just put my foot down, and delete his avatar, along with a stiff warning about it. It's not like it's beyond the capability of this forum software.

There are minors that watch this forum you know.

Not that I'd post any pornographic or other profanities, but what exactly is considered as pornography? Would it be permitted to post pictures of women in bíkini or something to that extent?

What ever happend to 'freedom of speech'? Cencors are just silly.

Royal Dragon

You have a point, but as a forum owner myself, I have to say that it's not "MY" job to ensure freedom of speach. if the individual wishes to use a priviately owned forum system, especially one that is trying to maintin a respectable image (like KFM), then they must abide by the rules.

If the individual in question wants to post pornagraphy in their avatars, let them get thier own forum, and set their own rules.

Freedom of speach doesnt exist on private websites on the internet. Or at all on the internet. Or really at all in reality.

If your offended by someone, whynot ignore them?

If parents let their children play on the internet without supervision, then its their fault the kids see 'bad' stuff, not the posters on KFO.

Unfortunatly royal dragon will probably get his way... :(

Anyways, if you want freedom of speach, goto cyberkwoon

As a publisher, freedom of speech is very important to me. To quote Voltaire, “I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.”

But as a parent and a former teacher of children, pornography has not place on this forum. Nor does vulgar language. As I've stated many times before, this is a family show here. Unfortunately, our automated forum censor is far from perfect, as you all know, and many people insist on getting around it so that can post their petty potty prose. It's too much to ask of our moderators to catch all that stuff. We can only do our best and hope that goodness will prevail. As for avatars, we do not have an automated censor for this, nor are we alerted when an avatar is uploaded, so it's up to our forum community to inform us and we (the moderators) will judge. That judgement is subjective, tempered by comments of the forum members. I hope that you can all understand our policies and agree too behave. If you want porn on the net, you're definately in the wrong place looking here.

So what your saying is your really high on freedom of speech but hate foul language?

Gene, im one of those that dodge the censors, reason being there at times when one must express feelings such as anger and discontent -> and ***** fails to express such. When one sees ***** doesnt exactly knows what it is, so it has no real effect over the reader(s) whoever they might be. That makes the writer dodge in whatever way he can the censors so that his message is delivered with its real intent and power.
What other way do you sugest for us to express deep hatred other than using the "profane" words and stuff?
I'm open to ideas that might help improving the community without limiting the range of my emotions.

Kristoffer, I tihnk the main point is that although this forum is public it is privately owned and helps to promote a product taht is available to people of all ages and backgrounds and so it is in their best interest to moderate instead of letting people run amok.
It essentially comes down to what Yenhoi said, if you don't like it, find somewhere else to go ;)

Also, hopefully they won't try to stop me from atleast being on the forum while I am naked, since that really isn't so much a porn issue as a comfort issue.

Kristoffer

Red - lol
Actually I agree with you and I think it's better here were it IS moderated compared to other like cyberkwoon. I just wanna start a debate and look at the moral issues in this thread.

You know, it really amazes me that so many people here like their freedom of sppech, yet they get so annoyed when somebody says something bad about their style. Remember how many of you got so mad about things Ralek and Ego Extraordinaire said? You cannot have it both ways people. I apologize if that sounded a little harsh. At any rate, thank you Kung Lek for taking the time to post this and letting us know what our options are. Mr. Ching, thank you for your insight concerning this topic as well. Peace.:D

They can say what they like about our style. But we should be able to call them out on it using any language we please.

See Xebsball's comments above. ;)
