Chan Poi originally had his Wah Lum school in Boston. At that time, Yao Li was his top and most senior student.

There was an article back then in Inside Kung Fu about Chan building the Wah Lum Temple school in Florida and moving down there to build the dream of a live in school. Yao Li, it was reported, was given the responsibility of taking over and continuing the Boston school under the Wah Lum name.

A bit later, if memory serves, the Opera there was doing a show - one of the few operas with a Chinese theme, and Yao Li and school were doing some of the background stuff with their kung fu.

A bit later still...and this is through the grapevie so ...anyway, Chan Poin and Yao Li had a falling out. Yao Li became persona non grata in the Wah Lum group.

He was still operating a school and working with his wife and had a partnership with another man (Taijiquan person) last I heard. That was a couple of years ago.
