I was checking out The VTAA website and noticed the application for membership sort of high for a piece paper to hang on the wall.Is there any benefit to joining?

Dont be surprised if they take about 4 months to send your certificate, and then it will probably arrive mangled !

Does joining VTAA give you the privilege of participating in its stimulating discussion forum?

That forum isn't even the VTAA's forum. The URL addresses are different. Though the REAL VTAA forum is very boring as well.

The other cesspool is run by the HK JKD chapter headed by Lewis Luk (a Wong Shun Leung lineage WC guy as well). His secretary I think "maintains" the site.

You mean the "Ving Tsun Forum", aka the "Jun Fan Feet Kune Do HK Chapter Limited Forum"?

I'm not quite sure what "Feet Kune Do" is, but surely they could be applied in a kicking motion to the behinds of the cowardly annonymous trolls who, in between fringe porn hunts and intellectual property rights piracy, feed their own childish egotism, or digitally serve as pawns to their crackpot so-called sifu clan leaders at the expense of our art (offense to those who crosspost here intended).

Maybe membership in the VTAA could come with a copy of Mr. Luk's server access logs, so the legitimate WCK folks libeled on his forum to indulge in a small tribute to the end of Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back...

Having had my moments of notoriety on the VTAA list I have some
opinions.

1. Obviously some of the imprints of the greatest cowards from the KFO list appear in the VTAA forum.... and say the same old same old things.

2. I dont post there- so it is never me....though ages ago in good faith I posted a few times when I first became aware of a "VTAA" list. It is foolish to feed the trolls-there or here- no matter how outrageous they are.

3. I have changed my mind regarding the VTAA list- when the flow is hampered- a good septic tank can serve sanitary purposes
and the well known trolls can float straight to the top and swim in their illusions.

bglenn - Just ask yourself what you get for your money, and see if its worthwhile to you. If its just a cert, you could make one on your PC that an average person wouldn't hold in any less value to what some organization they never heard of handed out. If you think they have worthy goals and you want your money to support them, then fork it over.

FYI, I've heard that Grendel can provide certificates at variable discount prices, and customized to your specifications. Volume discounts may also be available.

Other than a place for older men to go smoke and have lunch/dinner, what does the VTAA actually do?

A cert from them at this point is probably more about impressing newbies than anything else.

If one looks at the photos of the membership it is hardly athletic looking. This looks more like the HK version of a VFW lodge.

Why would they allow the JFJKD "forum" to continue to exist?

Why would they hand out "certs" to people who just pony up money to attend "seminars"?

Harsh observation? Sure.
Let's see some refutation then?
