I recently met someone who has trained in Shaolin chun fah and Shaolin five animals for six years. I did a search on it but it all came up as kenpo. Anybody know the deal?

Chuan fa is another word for kung fu.Chinese martial arts have had different names over the years kuoshu, wushu, kung fu,etc.

Chuan fa means literaly fist law or fist method.Kenpo although a japanese art has it's origings from kung fu.Kenpo is meant as law of the fist.It was changed from chinese to japanese in the island of okinawa.

Actually kenpo is the link between kung fu and karate.Kenpo later went into japan and developed into modern day karate. It also was originally called chinese fist due to it's origin but since japanese were to proud to admit it came from china changed the meaning denouncing its chinese roots.I believe some forms of karate are kenpo.Hope that helps.
