It really does blow...... I really need to get over there and see some of this stuff for myself before any more is destroyed.

Yes, maybe some good will come out of this though. It is a Taoist temple.

This site is of such significance for any Chinese arts practitioner.

I think we all should give to help the restoration project.

$50.00 isn't that much really, but imagine how much we on KFO could give if we all gave together!

I thought they had plans to rebuild it before the burning? wasn't it burned "Accidentally" to make room for a bigger complex?

RD: im sure its similar to the "oops you mean we built the NEW southern temple over the remains of the OLD one? That means you cant excavate huh - u will just have to take our word for it..." :(

I almost hate to ask this but is the TRS a bonafide non-profit?
In a quick scan of their site I couldn't see any credentials or
legal info about the organization.

A good cause for sure but I would like to be sure of what happens
to the money.

if you follow the link to helping.org they have a 'report'
on the company but the chief exec is listed as
"Mr. Executive Director" ????

I don't have any specific knowledge abt the organization, but I have been visiting that website for years. They hae some really good info on Taoism, etc. I have read their reports on different projects they have completed and different Taoists they support in China.

TB, it does seem legit but I usually like to see an official list of
officers etc for a non profit and check out their charter or
whatever before I give money to a 'good cause'

It's a sad fact that a lot of organizations only give a very small
percentage of the take to the cause.

just a cautious question about them, not a flame.

I'd eventually like to get to China so it would be good for some
of the things I want to see to be still standing. :)

Found this info Taoist Restoration Soceity. also there may be info listed under the United States Taoist Association.

TRS nonprofit declaration (http://www.guidestar.org/partners/networkforgood/gs_report.jsp?npoId=36726)

that link was right on the TRS homepage - Helping.org. It looks you can make a general donation to the Taoist Restoration Soceity, it's not specifically labeled for the Wudang Temple.

but it still lists the director as mr. director.... not very professional sounding imo :(
