Here are two poems the first written by Robert Krach age 13 and the other is Brendan Wallace age 9 in the 2002 Edition of Poetry by Young Americans.

TWIN TOWERS

They snuck into our country.
They played us for fools.
They used our many freedoms.
We gave them all the tools.

Ou country had monuments.
Like Twin Towers in New York.
It all seemed so easy.
They thought we were ****s.

they learned to make bombs.
And they learned to fly planes.
The Pentagon was a target.
It went up in flames.

Yes, our people suffered.
We watched many die.
They thought they had won,
and we would break down and cry.

But our heroes took over.
They stepped up to the plate.
There were people to rescue.
There was no time to wait.

Volunteers kept coming,
from all walks of life.
They did what was needed,
throughout all the strife.

Yes the Twin Towers crumbled,
and fell to the ground.
They knocked down our symbols,
but here's what they found.

Though sometimes we are selfish,
when we work and play.
They might take away our symbols,
but our goals and ideals will stay.

When someone is hurting,
of if they need help,
just call on Americans
and we'll tighten our belts.

We'll do the right thing
and put others first.
Our freedom is precious,
and for it we thirst.

We try to be peaceful,
and let other people be.
But fight with my brother,
and your fighting with me.

They may hide in Afgahnistan,
and send us bad mail.
But watch the horizon,
for missiles and ship sails.

They should go to bed early,
and tidy up their caves.
We're going to fight them,
with wave after wave.

Please don't have nightmares,
they'll be needing your rest.
Remember we're sending
some of America's best.

So plan on more funerals,
and choose a last mile.
They may not have freedoms
like a full jury trail.

They thought it would end
with the fall of Twin Towers.
But adversity often
brings on our finest hours.

- Robert Krach age 13

THE SAD DAY OF SEPTEMEBER 11, 2001

I am a kind person
I wonder if the hurt are better now
I hear church bells ringing
I see terrible discomfort
I want peace throughout the world
I am terrified

I pretend everything is okay
I feel gloomy
I imagine being injured in the attack
I worry about the innocents
I cry for the sad
I am in deep hurt

I understand people are hurt
I say terrorists should cease sabotaging
I dream world peace is here
I try to make them feel better
I hope the terrorists will stop.
I am Brendan.
