yesterday, i did weighted pullups with the most weight i've ever done so far (1/3 of my bw!)... i did 2 sets of 5, then dropped the weight 20 lbs, did another 2 sets of 5, dropped another 10 lbs and did another 2 sets of 5. then did 4 sets of 5 just bodyweight..... after all this, my abs really hurt, and not that "i had a good workout hurt". this was the "aww crap i think i broke something" hurt. its ok today, just a little tight.
can you pull an ab muscle? just wasnt sure if it was even possible.
but i'm taking today off just to be safe, just gonna do some stretching and horse stance....

your gut feeling is right -- that it is a pull -- and your gut response -- to rest it -- is correct. be careful in everything you do; your abs are pretty much constantly at work, and if you hurt yourself further, you'l regret it, since pretty much every exercise relies on a healthy stomach.
