Yeah these two old peopls, they must be like 80+ years old. So this guys is in front of their door, and asks them if they have seen his cat in their garten, the lady says oh no, but please come take a look if you want to, the dude closes the door throws the lady on the floor, a miracle she was more or less ok after that fall, but then he grabs her husband, from behind, in that chocke-hold, so one arm around the neck and the other arm is used to pull his own arm to make a massive neck/breath lock. It's the most common used one I guess, any clue on how to get out if this ? I'd start hitting him in the face as hard as I could, dunno if there's any other method of unlocking this ...

In a rear choke situation:

US marine teaches you to lower your center of gravity (e.g., a very narrow horse stance). move to his left or right side, which will make his knee accessible to your arms. Uproot him by lifting him from his knees and throw him to the ground (remember to use your hip and not your back). The marine also teaches you to kick the guy after he is on the ground. But, I leave that part to you. saw this on tv

BJJ teaches you to use both of your hands to pull on the forearm to open up some room to breath. Drive your hip into him and use the hip as the focurum and flip the guy over. Don't let go of the forearm, you can put it into an armlock after the flip. read this in a book.

Or general street tactic, stump on his toes with all your might. The sudden pain will make him let go. You got to act fast after that.

be safe

A good choke done by someone who knows what they are doing is down right impressive in terms of combative value.

Once a rear choke/naked strangle is locked on you only have so much time to do anything as you are losing air and maybe even cutting off blood to the brain.

Depending on the type of choke, try to get your chin into the croke of his elbow if possible, this will help you save some air. Try open hand slaps or hammerfists to the groin, grab and squeese his testicles, heel stomps on his shins and insteps, backward kicks to the groin, buck and arch your body and ram your head into his face, if possible swing some elbows into his body if a opening becomes available, grab and twist some fingers tp peel off his grip, gouge his eyes, take a bite out of his arm, go for whatever openings you can get.

The guy may bring you down to the ground to better control you and get the choke into place. Have your training partner throw in this situation as well instead of just a guy who tries to stand up and choke you out. Have your buddy throw you around as he is trying to choke you and not just stand there like a robot.

Hope this helped.

Huh, throwing someone on the ground, while he's choking you, wouldn't that brake your neck ?

Tzu,

Not as long as you use control and common sense in training.

Have your buddy TAKE you to the ground. It can be a sweep, he could use a shovel kick to bring you down to your knees, he could hook your legs and fall back into the guard, a modified hip toss or hoist, or just overbear you with muscle and determination.

Have your buddy THROW you around while you are struggling with the choke. Have him twist and turn as you try to fight him off, try to overbear you, push you into a wall or piece of furniture to crowd you. At first go slow and just work on your strikes, be creative and not by the numbers, just attack. After you feel comfortable bring up the pace and add in elements such as having your partner struggle to hold on and sink the choke or take you to the ground.

You can also add some practice weapons into the mix, get a rubber training knife and put some lipstick or ink on the blade, have your partner wear a crappy white t-shirt and practice some quick draws from its position on your body as he is manhandling you and trying to choke you out, the lipstick on the training knife, which could represent any edged or fist stick weapon, will show on his skin and shirt where true strikes went home. It's a great training tool.
